This was announced back then with the other Nyko accessories but didn't see much publicity for it anywhere. Here's how it looks like and what it does.

Race, jump, shoot, run and more while feeling every bump and Shot with the core Controller for Nintendo Switch. The core Controller is a full sized wired Controller that provides a more ergonomic feel than with Joy-Con alone. It features fully analog face buttons and joysticks, giving your game 200+ degrees of sensitivity for accurate and responsive gameplay. Built-in vibration will shake and rattle with the action giving you full immersive feedback with your games. With its 9.8 foot USB cable, the core Controller provides lag free response time and plenty of room to Sit back and enjoy your favorite Switch games. A programmable Turbo button allows any face buttons or triggers on the core Controller to have Turbo functionality. The core Controller is the ideal hardware for those who want the most accurate Controller, response and ergonomics for their Nintendo Switch.

It's available for pre-order at Amazon for $29.99.

If it's cheap and works well, and even if it looks ugly, if it feels pretty good in the hands, I'll buy 2 as soon as possible. Will wait for reviews of it to come out first though.

Do you really want it too look garish? Like a 1990's MadKatz controller you pawn off to your litter brother?

I think I would like that rubberized coating. It has a nice understated look to it.

God forbid Nyko would have been a little bit creative and use some colours to not make their controller so bland and rough looking.
