Hacking O3DS Gateway mode 9.2 Update to Specific Firmware 11.2 using SysUpdater

Greetings Kind Sirs,

i have a O3DS Gateway Cart/ Mode in Emunand 9.2, and i want to Update to a specific Emunand Firmware which is 11.2.0-35U

i have always check tutorials before doing so, and got a little bit confused.
anyway this are the steps i will do but need some guidance. thanks
please bare with me since i a little bit off on type of Emunands and such..
as i been using Gateway Cart/Mode since the beginning.


1. i am using 3DSnus (from Dr-Hacknik to grab the 11.2.0-35U FW ,
2. i downloaded 3DS Sysupdater 0.4.2 (from profi200) to update my Emunand 9.2.0-U to 11.2.0-35U
3. these is where i got confused. ( i grab the Sysupdater 0.4.2 as .3dsx) which i know i can install it to the Gateway Cart SDCard and run it thru there.
however profi200 mentioned

IMPORTANT: Don't run this with any sort of firmware spoofing enabled like Gateway mode/rx mode/whatever or it will brick!
NOTE: The 3dsx version requires extra permissions *hax alone can't provide. If possible use the CIA build

He mentioned dont use Gateway Mode, which I am currently at and
if Possible use CIA version. Which i only got sysUpdater.3dsx from profi200.

my Questions are,
Can i update my 3DS Gateway CFW to Other CFW? much prefer using Luma CFW.,. (how do i do that?)
once in Luma CFW. how will i use SysUpdater.3dsx?? since .3dsx files can run only in Gateway Carts SDCards..

How are you booting into Gateway mode now? If you are using A9LH then follow https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s
If you are using menuhax then uninstall it (boot into sysNAND and change your theme) and follow https://3ds.guide from the beginning. If DS profile then follow https://3ds.guide from the beginning also (for both, on sysNAND not emuNAND and not in Gateway mode). Don't follow the Move emuNAND section - you will want to keep your emuNAND for use with Gateway (it is not safe to use on sysNAND).

To use Gateway after this follow https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-gateway-on-b9s.431691/

To update an emuNAND, if you can access Gateway mode, you can use a Poochy and Yoshi rom. Just boot into the Gateway menu (hold L when booting it) and hold Up on the D-pad while selecting the option to boot into Gateway mode (this disables rom update blocking). You don't have to use sysupdater.

i am booting Gateway mode by Gateway Carts (The Old Style).. i dont have A9LH or B9s btw.
i dont have Menuhax as well.
I dont have Poochy nor a Yoshi Cart if you are saying updating to Carts. (Can i use a Yoshi cia or yoshi.3ds? not sure how to update from .cia or .3ds)

my SysNand is 4.5.0 and my Emunand is 9.2.0

Oh i think i Got it....looks like i need a Yoshi Rom .3ds and run it on Gateway mode..
then it will ask that in order to play i need to update my Emunand,.

that simple...
is this correct?? i will try this at home

Yep. Download system update files with 3DNUS, pack as CIA and put them in 1 directory in the 3ds SD card
Then run emunand, open BBB and install all CIAs from that directory

Hey thanks Looks like i got it.

i got two Methods,

Second Method

2) For title ID, input "9.5.0-23", for version, it's either "USA", "EUR" or "JPN" depending on your region.
3) Make sure "pack as cia" is selected and press "Download".
4) After everything is finished there should be a folder called "9.5.0-23". Copy that folder to your SD card.
5) Boot to emuNAND, then start BigBlueMenu from the gateway multi-rom menu or just launch it from the home menu if you already have it. Then go to the "9.5.0-23" folder.
6) Select any .cia file and press L+R+A to import all cia files in that folder.
7) Reboot.
8) Check your emuNAND system settings for the version.
9) Yay.

If you are going to install firmware cias it is very important to use sysupdater or another app that is intended for installing them. Otherwise they may not get installed properly and your system will brick (not so bad if it's on emuNAND, but still, you'll lose all your data).

Oh thanks for the warning,
ill install it thru .3ds files using gateway cart.. will let you guys know how it turns out..
ill try to create a small guide to the tutorial sections on O3DS gateway emunand Update ..if every things are OK.

Greetings, just a small update.

i have done Updating my 3DS USA version Gateway 9.2 CFW Emunand to 11.1.0 very thanks to for some solid advice.
i have done the simplest method which is update from a ROM cart.
then Update my Gateway Launcher.dat to version GW_4.2b (not sure what launcher.dat i have,maybe too old)

Rom Cart Used:
Super Mario Maker
(for Nintendo 3DS Nintendo
