Hi

A question : there isn t that much standalone emulators ON VITA except MGBA.

Is there any chance for us to get ports of great PSP emulators like Masterboy, Gpsp etc..?

Thanks

Technically, the emulators contained in Retroarch are standalone emulators, they're just included in the front-end that is Retroarch :P You could always just install separate cores from the Retroarch package if you want separate icons or something, that's still an option.

No Other way to go?
What about ssplus vita version?
Is there a particular reason your against RetroArch? I mean you could try loading the old PSP emulators in Adrenaline or through VHBL but they don't work nearly as good as RetroArch.
Like this guy said, use the PSP emulators with Adrenaline, like i do all the time. Emumaster, Pico Drive, GPSP Kai, good enough for me, though SNEX9x still kinda suck. :P

Retroarch is pretty well but it lacks optimisation as others standalone emu can have (gpsp for psp is one of those very well optimized) . See what i Mean :)?

(retroarch uses too much processing power by forcing the highest hertz frequency for sound 48khz I believe...............beyond that it forces accuracy in the emulation that is also too much processing power, and you can't tell the difference, if accuracy isn't used.................so its not worth it)

(using the non-retroarch versions of the same emulators, adjusting those options can get you the same relative performance..............but the performance is worse.............rather than recycling everything, they should be reprogramed from the ground up, its no big deal, I uninstalled all the emulators on my vita, it became a big joke after a while)

Its a shame there isnt any decent standalone emulators for PS vita, im not talkiing about using a psp emulator to load up old emulators. I'm talking about proper emulators designed or ported over to the vita which can fully make use of the ps vita's power

i'm really not a fan of Retroarch, its too fiddly and the gui isnt my cup of tea. Also I really dont like the idea for all emulators to be assimilated into the same place. I much prefer the idea of having each emulator look different, have different icons and different ui's. Because generally all consoles are very different to each other, so I dont want every emulator gui to look and feel the same.

Hopefully someone out there can give us some decent standalone emulators for megadrive, master system, snes, pc engine, and arcade. The best one I've seen so far is PFBA, but some of the performance on some of the game I wish was better.
neogeo cd would be cool aswell.

retroarch sucks balls

Thanks you for all contributors to the projects, I think they love to read this kind of shit.
Anyway what did you expect for 444Mhz ?
You can still create standalone emulators yourself. Learn to program and do it. Come sucks balls with us! We have plenty for guys like you. (i'm not affiliate with retroarch team).

See you

Unbunch your panties, mon ami, I'm simply calling it as I see. I've been into modding, emulation and all that good stuff since the jump and whilst I appreciate the effort that is involved in porting I also can see Retroarch for exactly what it is on 90% of the platforms its posted to - a quick, dirty, unoptimized rush job to get the epeen kudos that comes along with getting it to run on a toaster. Hence the "First!11!!!!" comment I made as it has some of the most inefficient emulation I've ever witnessed.

Contrast this with say the OG Xbox scene where each individual emulator was optimized again and again before achieving a refined state of emulation quickly across the board. This doesn't happen with Retroarch as there is always somewhere new to be first on and the people who punt it across just handle the basics and then skip, best off saving that effort and doing a decent job instead of this half assed crap that everyone seems to accept and expect as the new standard.

Coding is a young mans game, if this were 10 years ago I'd still be happily programming until 5AM each day then sleeping through the day to do it all again but now it just doesn't hold that much appeal for me any more and a project without passion isn't worth attempting.

If your game doesn't play the way it should, just try the next one and beat it, then the next one, then another and so on.

I'll give you a list of the games I beat on the Vita, never expect to beat on the Vita, and it was amazing:

GBC- Super Mario Land 2- 6 Golden Coins
GBC- Link's Awakening
GBC- Shantae
GBC- Wario Land II
Genesis- Contra- Hard Corps
PC Engine- Castlevania- Chi no Rinne
PC Engine- Ginga Fukei Densetsu- Sapphire
NX- Cave Story
SNES- Mario World
SNES- Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
SNES- Mega Man X
SNES- Mega Man X2
SNES- Donkey Kong Country 2
SNES- Gradiuos 3
SNES- U.N. Squadron

I could keep writing and remembering this past year, but I'm at work and I think you already have like... 5 months of beautifull and totally playable games.

@Zukov I don't play what I can get running, I play what I want to play and even with your title picks the Vita isn't doing anything that the PSP couldn't already handle hence why I'm so unimpressed with the mediocre implementation of its emulation potential.

@romain337 true, the leecher to coder ratio grows exponentially with each generation thanks to people breeding like rats and allowing games/tv to raise their children but thats another topic. In regards to the scene the one big push idea is great but thats not what is taking place at all, all we're seeing is horrendous crap that might as well have not been ported for all of its effectiveness.

I have actually thought about getting back into coding as well as playing around with exploits and whatnot so who knows, I may just do it all myself.

Well, good for you, but I doubt you can run Ginga Fukei Densetsu: Sapphire on PSP. I could be wrong but I really don't believe it.
I'm pretty sure Yoshi's Island ain't gonna run on PSP the way it runs now on Snes9x 2005.

And over all: OLED kills your arguments.
Also, I don't have a PSP, I have a Vita. So I don't see the PSP scene in a nostalgic way.
If you are gonna hate on the scene asking to be hear, prove your value, cuz RetroArch certainly does.

I have PSP, i growth up with it (my fav portable device) but i enjoy old games more on psvita than psp (now i use PSP only for psp games lol).
I finally completed so many SNES and PSX games on RetroArch that i've never done on PSP (many times, on hard stage/situation, you have need savestates that PSP doesn't have)

Sure that, Vita will become more worthy than PSP (in terms of difference; we talked about gaming, but there's no games i've played that actually PSP can't run. I only enjoyed them more on Vita) if will get DS or, at least, N64 emulators/cores. I really wanted to play Super Mario 64 and Majora's Mask on psvita!
