Net Neutrality once again needs our help!

Once again Net Neutrality is under threat of being revoked. Net Neutrality doesn't just effect the US, it effects the internet as whole and will effect every single service we use in our day to day lives. Without Net Neutrality, IPS's can threaten any site with slow services and demand a ransom to speed up their services. This could mean more ads, paid services, site closers, or simply dealing with slower sites. This also means IPS's have complete power over the content they want you to see. Negative views on issues they are in favor of? Expect slower services until that content is removed from the site. And these aren't even of what can happen without Net Neutrality.
Please take some time to actually be upset about this! We need to protect our freedom from the companies that want to control us!

Although it's true that this will most likely pop up every single year, that doesn't mean our efforts aren't having an effect.

But the more that I think about it, the best method would be to vote out the people in favor of removing Net Neutrality. They clearly don't have the people's best interest in mind and their continued time in office only allows this problem to continue to happen.

They already are, though not in the blatant "we'll charge you more to access certain sites" way.

Both AT&T and Verizon allow you to use their proprietary video streaming services on your phone without it going against your data plan. This puts every other streaming service (e.g. Netflix) at a disadvantage, since those services *will* count against your data usage.

T-Mobile has something similar for music streaming, though they allow third-party services instead of promoting their own.

Comcast is the biggest offender IMO, and are owned or rather, own MSNBC, Paramount, etc, I think, they're the Microsoft of ISPs, and that's not a good thing. I've already wrote my Rep the other day, not sure if he'll even bother.

Well first off we have to consider the fact that in many ways it is a fight between massive corporations over a regulation that either way will hurt or help their bottom line. But my big issue is that I have never seen a convincing argument in favor of why net neutrality actually is something that should be wanted. The idea that companies should be required to equally treat all of the data the same without any preference is just absurd since in reality due to the cost of maintaining such networks and what not is no where near the same. For example, I may hate that Comcast slows down FNC and CNN while keeping NBC News at a faster rate the truth is that in that particular case they have incentive to help their people out since it is the best business wise. Additionally if the internet should be neutral and content face no discrimination (which is to ignore the fact that data is not equal in the sense of the financial costs to support it) than who will get the bill? The companies will not just sit down and take it but rather the consumer will have to pay for it.

So you're not at all worried if they end up censoring agendas or sites that don't align with their political views in favor of things that do align with their views? I don't want to have to pay more to get access to places I want to go to.

Well, unfortunately, I don't have a choice where I live, it's either fast internet, or POS slow "high speed" internet from crappy, no-name ISPs. I don't have a good choice, and Google Fiber refuses to set up where I live because of the infrastructure. Only exception is paying a 3000 dollar build out fee if I really want it in this part of town. Yeah, not worth it. *Shrug*. 100 mbps vs 10 mbps. No thanks.

Better question: If your ISP decided out of the blue to charge you $20/mo more just to access GBAtemp, while not charging arbitrary fees for anything else, would you be okay with that?

Where I live I have a few choices... They're not good ones. Verizon or AT&T are our big mobile providers. Spectrum is our "fastest" internet.. Everything else is trash. I'd still rather not pay them. Grrr
