What's the problem with Windows Defender? In the May AV-Comparatives Real-World Protection Tests, it blocked 99.5% of malware. It's also low on disk-usage and stays out of the way.
There's a few problems that people have with Windows Defender. For one thing, it has horrendous zero-day protection and no behavior shield. That alone means any new malware will be able to infect your computer without you knowing until Microsoft releases an update. However, by then the damage could already be done.

Some viruses aren't even detected as fast as you claim it to be. Honestly just mix WD with MBAM Premium and you will not have those problems :P

It might be better to mix a free Antivirus with real-time protection (such as Avast) and free Malwarebytes for optimal performance. You have the anti-virus (which has a bigger database of malware than an anti-malware) as a catch-all. Then, you can use the anti-malware whenever you feel you need to scan your PC. Not only is it free, but it also will allow for better performance than using two protection programs with real-time scan. That will definitely slow down whatever you're doing.
P.S. I'm not arguing or anything, just suggesting a free alternative...

not only at start up . all the time that's the problem
I think you should try the suggestion I made earlier. If that doesn't help, maybe you should try dual-booting a lightweight linux distro (such as Lubuntu)...

This, you should never have multiple real time scanners active at the same time.
Personally I use Panda Free Antivirus as it had high detection rates and few false positives when I installed it, and I also have free MBAM.

Are you agreeing with me? I'm a little confused due to the wording XD

MBAM premium with Windows Defender leaves my PC clean and happy. Never causes problems. If you've got an i7 and it's eating 30% if your resources? Something else is going on.

They release AV definitions fairly consistently. So.. Yeah...

I understand that, but behavior shield is something that is very important as it can protect you from zero-day exploits. Windows Defender does not have a behavior shield function of any sort, which is why I think it is a bit lacking. Other than that, it's an okay anti-virus. Though, there are other free anti-viruses that do the job better IMO... I personally use Avast Free Antivirus (all core features such as real-time protection, scanning, and behavior shield are free. Not to mention the fact that it is super easy to set up,) along with MBAM free and Hitman free... Though, if you're happy with your setup, then don't change it. These are only opinions :)

what could be going on?

I ran a full scan with windows defender and then after that it started hogging my PC and had to turn it off then when I rebooted the anti malware service executable was already running and taking 30 % what can i do?

Post screenshots of taskmanager so we can see disk cpu and memory usage. For all we know you are stuck scanning highly compressed files/folders on a slow 5400rpm drive.

You could also just disable real time protection via regedit:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Real-Time Protection]
"DisableRealtimeMonitoring"=dword:00000001
