Hi guys, i was trying to upgrade my New 3DS XL to Luma 8.1 ( i've been using 7.1 ), i'm having problems at the very begin of the upgrade, when it says to boot the device while holding Start button it doesn't show Luma3DS chainloader screen, but instead takes me directly to the nintendo home screen. Booting the device while holding SELECT instead bring me to the menu where you can choose "Show Nand string" bla bla etc etc. What am i doing wrong? I downloaded 2-3 times every file needed but it still doesn't work, anyone can help me?

boot your DS in Chainloader when put back Luma 7.1 on the SD Root?

that's the problem, when i try to boot the chainloader i go straight to n3ds homescreen

  1. Copy SafeB9SInstaller.bin from the SafeB9SInstaller .zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card
  2. Rename SafeB9SInstaller.bin in the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card to start_SafeB9SInstaller.bin
the guide isn't correct then, gonna try asap

You need to learn how to read:

  1. Leave the old (v7.1) version of Luma3DS (boot.firm) as it is. You will update this later.
  2. Copy the contents of starter.zip to the root of your SD card
  3. Create a folder named boot9strap on the root of your SD card
  4. Copy GodMode9.firm from the GodMode9 .zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card
  5. Copy SafeB9SInstaller.firm from the SafeB9SInstaller .zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card
  6. Copy boot9strap.firm and boot9strap.firm.sha from the boot9strap .zip to the /boot9strap/ folder on your SD card
  7. Reinsert your SD card into your device

so guys here i am again, i'm having the same problem.. cannot launch luma chainloader while following this guide https://3ds.guide/updating-b9s
copied all files but while holding start and booting my 2ds it just launchs normally, any1 can help please?
Take out your SD card and hold Select on boot. Does the luma config menu show? If so, what version does it say? Get this version from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases and put it on your SD card. You may just have the wrong version on your SD card so it defaults to CTR-NAND and you have no payloads there.
