Hacking What can a hacked Switch potentially do?

How so? Its pratically a Nvidia Shield.

It's practically not. Aside from the chip inside and a few other hardware similarities.. You'd break what makes a Switch. The controllers would lose some functionality until we get some hacky drivers. The dock would theoretically work fine, but no guarantee.

If you want an Nvidia Shield Tablet? Buy one...

>Hacky drivers
>Controllers use standard bluetooth HID

All features that aren't mandatory for use on Android

So, then you don't have a Switch.. At what point does that make sense?

Installing Android on a Switch would just leave you with a tablet. You're better off just buying the Shield Tablet if that's what you're really after.

Hz =/= FPS
60Hz = 120(121)fps
What's the point really if the screen can output at max 60 fps, apparently new super Mario bros for the 3ds, the frames shows 120fps in the 3ds with the 3d on, can only output 60 at max

aside from the usual homebrews, playing backups
playing GC/wii/ wii u games natively?
playing PSX/PS2 games? (how strong it is, really?)

I know switch won't be hacked anytime soon, but I am just wondering the potentials
you can brick it then get yourself a real tablet

Probably because it's 2 screens at 60, maybe. All I know is a hz rate is the rate at which the picture is updated. 60hz is 60 pictures a second that will be put on the screen. If you make 120fps you will only see 60 of those, each of them being the latest rendered at the given time the monitor is drawing them. So the Switch is a 60hz panel. Meaning getting anything over 60fps is unreasonable and will be dumb and unoptimized. I'd rather the speed being used to pull 120fps be used to make 60fps look better. Also, if you think that's a bad idea because "muh responce time" remember we're talking about streaming over the network. I have a Steam Link so I know how this shit goes down. It's not gonna be a good response time. That's REALLY hard to pull off, hard enough a hardware box that's been used to do this that's been out for like 2 years can't manage to keep its time under around 300ms.
Tl;dr: The Switch is 60hz. If you have 60hz you probably only need 60fps. When it comes to streaming, which is what we're talking about, response time is shit, all you need is 60fps.

i doesnt suppord hddS
It could with a custom driver with a softmod. In theory that would be fairly easy if it runs a fairly stock BSD.

By the time that Android is on there the controllers should be understood well from reverse engineering the Switch in the first place.

Ya don't say? Do we have access to HD rumble and Gyroscope? NFC? No? Okay then.
They use standard HID, but that does not mean you can not have a couple extra packets. HID is not that hard to extend from what I recall when I looked into it.

I know this one, the 3DS renders the top screen twice. One for the left and one for the right, but the LCD only gets updated at 60FPS otherwise there would be tearing and the two sides would not be synced up causing more illness from the desync of the two eyes.

No one said you had to install it, just run it from SD

I definitely like the idea of running Android off of a Switch, especially if it'd be fairly easy to switch between the Switch's OS and Android whenever you want to.

The thing is present in the bottom screen too, smash bros has different fps in both screen, really strange behavior if you ask me

I do not see why it would not be if it gets that far.

Okay, that is really strange. Nintendo did something odd with that. Does it show 60 without 3D enabled?

Are you forgetting the possibility of dual boot?
The PS3 had the option to install Linux but no one called it a computer either.
And like Total Insanity said, the joy-cons, NFC, etc aren't necessary to use Android, touchscreen is enough anything else is a bonus.

Always 119 fps in game, with 3d on or off

I feel like it might not be powerfull enough but maybe we could get a ppsspp port to switch in the future :/ once that happens I guess the switch may end up replacing the psp as an emulation machine

PSP runs fine on ARM devices like the Shield K1 Tablet (got full speed on almost all games), and that with the K1, but the Switch uses an X1 variant, much more powerful. This will have more potential for more powerful emulators; DS I can see as both Switch and DS use ARM as well :D
