Well i already know that it's a period of the year where devs lie about their projects and shows how "polished and working games would be but you're still not getting this version you idiots", but why did i read day two when the showcase is done ?

Some of them lie. Others just get overenthusiastic. If you've spent 3-4 years of your live devoted to something, you want to show it off as best you can, no? I have some empathy for them, 'cos I'd like to spend my life making games, too.
Dude, being honest pays off too, no need to lie just to promote, as a meh gamer, i'd buy a truthful shit product over a fucking huge lie, even if the difference is really subtle.

No, but that's the thing. They don't want to lie, that's not their intent, but they might over-hype things. In some cases, a game may still be a ways from being finished, and so they'll go on and on about these cool features they're including, but then later on in development, they'll find that they're running short on time/money, so they cut some of the features they promise, or they have to nerf others. It's an unfortunate reality of game development.

Don't get me wrong, you'll have developers that are forced to tell certain white lies by corporate so the game can be marketed. But many other times, developers are being quite honest but are unable to deliver later. Let's take No Man's Sky as an example. Sean Murray told some of the biggest lies anyone's ever seen a developer pull off. However, I saw it as a case of a very small team trying to make a AAA-quality game and just being unable to include the features they promised after multiple delays and impending deadlines. I see No Man's Sky as a game Sean Murray honestly wanted to be awesome and was genuinely enthusiastic about, especially the features he promised, but game development realities kicked that project in the teeth. They were forced to abandon features they had previously promised. They're not out of blame, of course. I played the game and I don't know what the hell their game designers were thinking. But I still empathize with their situations, having observed dev teams and worked on smaller projects myself.

Jason Schreier of Kotaku is one of my most favorite games journalists. I highly recommend you read this article of his:
http://kotaku.com/the-story-behind-mass-effect-andromedas-troubled-five-1795886428

The article portrays perfectly the challenges and harsh realities of game development. Devs don't want to lie, they want to create a great game just as much as gamers want to play a great game. It's a very hard job, making games.

If you like Schreier's work, he has an entire book releasing later this year on the impossible challenges of game development, written in an investigative journalism style like his Andromeda expose:

It's the most important time of the year when games get announced. ;) I know a lot of people bash E3 like it doesn't matter and it's shit and yada yada but when they see the games are announced they eat their own words.

Fixed that for you. @HaloEliteLegend already explained much better why it's not as black and white. Yes, the final product rarely matches the projected dreams and anticipations told on commercials (and face it: E3 is one large commercial). No, that doesn't mean it's all lies.
