I need help, I followed the tut you guys linked perfectly to step III. After everything was installed fine, and luma was configured, I tried to reboot and hold start but it doesn't bring up the menu anymore, it just boots up.

Luma3DS Github Repo said:
  • boot9strap support (all older entrypoints, including ARM9LoaderHax and menuhax, are no longer supported).
  • Replaced .bin (brahma/a9lh) payload loading with .firm (FIRM format) payloads. This format allows for way more flexibility and is also the only one supported by boot9strap.
ahahaha Aurora forces everyone to use boot9strap ahaha amazing thing

Interesting to see this released, this scene never stops progressing.
Though i am perfectly fine with my current Luma 7.1 + A9LH setup.

What are the Disadvantages (what will i potentially lose from converting over) and Current Advantages for the average users? (besides the faster boot, which is nice.)

Sorry if these have been asked alot, just want to know if its worth updating this weekend for or waiting till its confirmed stable by a majority of users.

"You can now hold (Start) + (Select) + (X) on boot to dump the ARM11 bootrom (boot11.bin), the ARM9 bootrom (boot9.bin), and your console unique OTP (OTP.bin) to the /boot9strap/ folder on your SD card" <--any reason to do this?

hi m8, what did you do about 3DSafe A9LH ver? did you upgrade with it installed but disable the pin?

No, you have to uninstall it unfortunately...

lol wut? Bootrom is read only and pretty much baked into the SoC at manufacture. You ain't gonna be installing anything into bootrom. Not without bitflipping with a high powered particle radiation emitter. :P
Alright, thank you for pointing out my misunderstanding of how derrek implemented sighax... I had a feeling I misunderstood something, as I had initially thought the bootrom was read-only as well...

Yay! Sighax and B9S have been released! I'm gonna update A9LH to this later. Although, this will mean that I will lose menuhax in the process. For now, I've got other things to think about right now.

It's quite amazing to see two implementations of sighax being released at the same time.

B9S is useful if you'd like to use custom firmware. While standard sighax is only good for those who don't use custom firmware.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
