nds-bootstrap loader: Run commercial NDS backups from an SD Card

nds-bootstrap:

Thanks to the work of ahezard, Gericom, Apache, Robz8, _catcatcat, and shutterbug2000 and other contributors, we can now load NDS games from the SD card, without any flashcard/SLOT-1 card.

Don't expect high compatibility, but do expect many, many updates.

Hope the creator will get back to this, can't really buy flashcarts from where i live (not without very expensive shipping).

I have a flashcart, but it's a Supercarr DSTWO which eats up my N3DS' battery like crazy just by being in the card slot due to its CPU, so I'm hoping that work will resume on this as well, as certain safety restrictions I've been put on in my home prevent me from leaving things on charge for a good amount of the day most days, and thus I need all the battery conservation I can get.

Let me ask: When this project gets finished, will almost all games play with no "lag" or "choppiness"? I understand it's hard work, I just want to know.

That's the end goal...will it ever reach that point and if so, when? You'll have to consult your crystal ball for those answers.

I didn't ask if or when it will be finished. I asked if it could be possible to play games perfectly in the first place should this be ever finished.

Sweet. I still have my Datel Games n Music flash cart from 2007(2004 model DS version) that I've been BURSTING to use again. Unfortunately, my original DS is in "other hands" and I can't get it back, and hardly able to afford a replacement(bills, gas, adulting crap, & Switch titles to jones over).

I know the standard flash carts mentioned will work with it. But unless utilizing any version of the Datel carts(DS, DS-i, DS-i Lite, DS-i XL) to run roms, hack, emulators(which would be highly moot since Retroarch 1.3.3 on 3DS is highly stable and doesn't have that screen tear issue), etc. would be awesome.

I still have my original set up for it(last used in 2009). Its mostly emulators(again, being moot to use due to Retroarch on 3DS) and a few Green Day tracks. But hey, its worth a try.

Someday......someday. For now, whatever flashcart is compatible. Also, thank you TheRealProcyon for testing out the same game I wanted to play along side a mass majority of DS titles(until a NDS rom injector for WarioWare Touched ever is made the same way GBA to CiA is done).

WarioWare Touched is available as a CIA and can be played without the whole nds bootstrap hassle if you were wondering.
But as for the rest of the titles, yes I hope we can play them later once this project comes to a favorable conclusion.

That I do hope for. What I'm saying is "GBA roms converted into CIA installed VC titles are now a thing, yet having NDS roms converted into CIA installed titles need to be real without relying on TWLoader".

Granted, I'm down for TWLoader being fully compatible when the time comes, and forwarders to the NDS rom through TWLoader can only do so much for now.

The only YT vidz I can find on what I'm getting at is through Kote and OfficialBrony's vidz. Mostly showing how to get PKMN Gen 3 on the VC since none were distributed for first time users of the 3DS after its launch(with the Ambassador Certificate).

Either way, hopefully this project does go full circle, and patience is what I'll have. And I already have WarioWare Touched on my 3DS(all those MyNin coins well spent after Miitomo's official launch).

after this application i was tempted to leave a DS cart in my N3DSXL and yeah its a SCDSTWO and wow did it drain battery!

i've given up hope on this app, but still is amazing it can at least play a couple games and the work is appreciated. after playing some DS games i realized why i don't really play it anymore, some are really dated.

Still, I wanna use my Datel Games n Music cart again. I hope compatibility for it will be initiated on Twloader soon.

Again, I only have the flash cart for the 2004 model DS. And again, no, I don't have that sleek grey "present by Reggie at E3 2004" NDS anymore. A N3DS-XL is all I have...and an O3DS-XL(which I don't use anymore since most games expect N3DS Only titles).

Does Datel Games n Music work directly when launched in TWLoader?
If so, do you know what .nds file is started when launched?

Not at the top of my head what it runs on other than needing a DLDI file or so. And I tried months ago when Twloader was a month or two old, and no it didnt. If there is a certain batch of files floating around, I'd use it. Though I need to find a legit disk that came with the cart to see if it'll install it all back on.

I did mention I had the original set up, but on another hard drive...and I dont have a SATA to USB plug to retrive it, but I know its on there(on a Win XP SP3, and on a computer tower I hardly use while the other is a laptop with Win 10).

I'll TRY to find the disk to make it easy on what all it came with. If not, I'll have to either find another one online or find an executable through means of file sharing.
