Homebrew Any way to keep a Wii U game downgraded? Or just download the downgraded version of it?

So I've been playing and speedrunning Shantae: Half-Genie Hero since it came out back in December up until March, when I took a break from it. Since it's release there's been an update that patched out a lot of huge glitches that made the run what it is. Earlier today I decided to turn the game back on after not playing it for a while and accidentally forgot to disconnect my Wii U from the internet before doing so. So before I realized what I did I see "Software Update Completed" and the game's now running in 1.01. Everything everyone has told me so far leads me to believe it's impossible to downgrade games on Wii U, but I remember seeing a solution last month that would let me have 1.00 uploaded or something of the sort, but I don't remember where I saw it, because unfortunately I didn't get around to downloading it because I was busy then I lost access to that data when my computer broke down.

Anyways, I tried to just simply delete the update data and play offline but Nintendo programmed it so that you can't play it after updating it and deleting the update data. unless you reupdate it. I know this was a huge issue with Sonic Boom speedrunners because they couldn't do the infinite knuckles pause jump if they downloaded the update, but I was wondering if someone made it possible yet 2+ years later?

Delete the update from the system settings. Use USB helper to get the specific update you want and install via WUP installer. This is assuming you've modded your console already with custom firmware.

You could save yourself the trouble and simply delete the update and just apply homebrew DNS in the network settings if you need a quick fix.

Save game is linked to update? Possibly?
When has that ever been the case for any game? I've never heard of that nor does it make sense with how saves are supposed to work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can just delete updates in the stock Data Managment if the base game is what you're after.
Yeah and Nintendo seemed to fix this with the Switch making game updates permanent installs. I never experienced it personally but that's what people are reporting.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I was slightly wrong. Once a Switch game has detected an update it will refuse to play until it has the update even if it is not an online game. Not even formatting can stop the nag to install the game updating.

Some games overwrite save for x version.
Ex. If you have Minecraft TU11 then you will be unable to play saved worlds from TU42 and vice versa.

I didn't try this myself but it'd be worth a shot. Delete the update of a game and install an older one with WUP Installer. Then launch the game with system config tool
It will work without SysConfigTool also. I know this because i downgraded BotW :^)

Sorry for bumping up a super old thread, but I have been really preoccupied and too lazy to actually try installing homebrew and downgrading the game until the past couple weeks. I've installed the homebrew channel, Mocha, used WUP installer to install the downgraded game into my NAND, yet it STILL keeps nagging me about updating the game. Is there any hope for me to still be able to play 1.0 of Shantae: Half Genie Hero? Is there not some way to delete the data the Wii U has to track whether the game needs updating or not?

Just delete update data and game will revert back to it's stock version.

Where is the update data? Because there's no such thing in the Wii U's data management section, when I see files to delete I can only delete the full game. Is there a special program I need?

Just click on the game before pressing a button that makes any other action and then you will be able to see the game, the save and the update separately

I'm not able to see them separately when I do that. All I see is the software, no game update data.
you see all of the games or just that game?
if you see all of your games, click on the game that you want to downgrade. i don't think it's possible that your wii u is different, you must be doing something in the wrong way

I go into the data management menu, click the "copy/move/delete data" button, click "system memory", click the "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" button, and when I click that specific game you're expecting me to see both software and update data, correct? Because I'm not seeing update data at all. It wouldn't be there anyways if the wii u is trying to set up the update (which I have it set to block). And before you ask, no, when the game was a newer version I don't remember there being any update data at all either.
