Probably eventually considering it ships with 2 themes. Conversely if took the 3DS a few years before any theme variations ever appeared. So give it time, I'm sure it's coming.

Yes we will eventually get themes, when who knows, but it's a nice "extra" for buying digital copies or pre-ordering a game. I think when Nintendo Points starts offering some rewards, themes will be one of the first things offered.

Yes. When you hit the 13 mark the grid appears.

Ahh, so there are technically 4 themes allready in the system then?

Ok, ill be quiet now...

Exactly this, as the console is allready really popular (Even with few games) Nintendo will slowly keep adding more features and slowly release more themes like the 3DS does

I think this is also why the WII U never got themes (Or updates to make the system run better) because there wasnt much drive to do so

Plus the Switch has to compete with mobile phones and stuff, where customisation is a bigger thing right?

Gotta remember that 3DS didn't have themes at ALL when it launched, they were added quite late in one of the system updates. Switch already has theme settings (with two to chose from) from day one, so that would point to it definitely getting those at some point.
Right now Nintendo is more than likely focused on games and other relatively important aspects of the system than decorative functionality.

Yeah but the themes are literally just different colors

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
