I don't know if this a bug or a faulty system but my controllers constantly send Link running off in a direction I don't want.

If sit up perfectly straight they work fine. What's this all about? I didn't think they needed line of site to the console.

I was excited when I got my switch that I could sit comfortably in any position but thats not close to true.

Am I the only one?

To be fair every console launch has its fair share of problems, some not fixable. Be glad there's a fix for this. :)
Yes of course. But the thing is, this is a known issue. And when the fix is so simple, you got to wonder what the heck they were thinking.

Touché. It does seem the Switch is rushed anyways, this issue, lack of streaming services, bland UI (fast tho), dock scratching the screen, etc, really show this was indeed rushed. I don't think any quality control in their right minds would give the Switch a pass.

Gotta be honest. I felt like this is something that should have come up in testing. QA department failed here. I was hoping for a patch that would fix it but the problem is physical.

I love Nintendo, loved every system they made including Wii U but this was almost a deal breaker for me. It made playing Zelda unbearable.

Given the amount of time between the release of the WiiU and the announcement of the Switch, I believe they didn't think hard enough about this system. It has some pros, but a LOT of cons. Hopefully only software updates will fix these problems. If it requires a hardware revision, Nintendo's biggest sale for a single system will because their biggest failure of a single system, bigger than WiiU.

How far are you from the TV when it happened? Or was it even in docked mode?

FAIR WARNING TO ALL:

There are some very tiny ribbon cables that are in your way while soldering. Super easy to break. Make sure you are an experienced Micro solderer before attempting and that you know how to safely remove these ribbon cables and reattach them.

Also, you'll need one of those Nintendo tri-tip screwdrivers. I have one from when I used to put mod chips in Wiis.

Docked. 5 feet from the dock is my couch

There are a lot of people having problems with their left Joy-Cons but a lot more people that aren't, this is what happens when 2 million units hit the market at once. If even 1% of people get defective units, that's still 20,000 people.

I haven't had any problems with my left Joy-Con YET, but even if I did I still probably wouldn't do the wire mod, because if Nintendo decides to issue replacement Joy-Cons to remedy this, I'm sure wire-modding would void any warranty on it.

I doubt it. They don't ever bother opening the thing up. Not in stores and not any time I've sent stuff back. It's just a little wire. If there was a recall I'm sure I could get a replacement no prob.

Edit: and by the way, I hope to God there is a recall. This is a major design flaw

I expect OS bugs and other day 1 issues but the freaking controller not working? Whole other ball game

I am no electrical engineer but I do have some friends that are that I talked to about this and they just laughed. Most of what they said went over my head but the jist of it is while this may work it could cause more problems than it solves because there are specifications that need to be followed with antenna length.

i have this issue too , it isnt just with zelda.
you just have to cover some part of the joy con and then the analog will become unresponsive.

i have updated my console, but i have yet to restart the switch with the joy cons attached.
i think it has fixed itself by now, i tried the analogs in the calibrating menu some while ago and it was working fine even while covering the joy con.

I really wonder if they had different manufacturers make parts for different batches, because at about 8 feet with the signal going through my PC and my body I still get accurate response. I even have 2-3 other wireless signals in the room, bluetooth included.

Welp, I can confirm my right Joy-Con has connection issues if I put my body between Joy-Con and Switch console even though the distance between Switch and Joy-Con is not more than 3 feet. Guess I need to get a triwing soon.
