25 and I think this game is fantastic. Easily #2 with aLttP at number 1. I thoroughly enjoyed oot and some of majoras mask. Twilight princess was fun on the GameCube, the wii version was meh. Skyward Sword was actually a good way to show off what the Wiimotes can do. Breath of the Wild gives us a sense of freedom that most of the other 3d ones didn't. That's a fact.. The opinion comes out of whether or not you enjoyed it. Don't generalize everyone who enjoys it as an "edgy 12 year old". Also metacritic is absolute shit when it comes to commumity/unpaid reviews.

Well I didnt say the edgy 12 year old, some other guy said that and I was just quoting him. Metacritic gives the game an amazing score so why are you saying they are no good? Just saying it seems fishy that the user reviews differ so much from the critic reviews.

Because you can literally go in, post WHATEVER you wanted... Even with no gameplay experience.

I would be more concerned that something seems fishy with the critic scores then.

I gotta say this game is amazing,

I'm 36 and played my fair share of games, this game is breathtaking in scope and execution.

FPS aside not much I can fault it for, I can't even remember the last game I played where if I wasn't playing it, I was constantly thinking about what I wanted to do when I got home to play. My time with the game time is so limited due to RL that I'm all over the place when I play and I have a great fun doing g it.

Even my wife is hooked and she doesn't even play, she likes to watch me play and give suggestions on where to go or what to do.

She's like my POST Navi :)

Yup, amazing game, nothing more to add.

Definitely, I quite MM3D after 4 hours, wasn't my cup of tea. BOTW is amazing, my siblings are hooked on to it as well. There is so much to do and get distracted in the vast open world. Truly adventurous.

My main point of critique with the game is that it's not a Zelda game. It's just a copy of any other RPG. That doesn't make it bad, but it's just not as appealing to me as games like Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword or Majora's Mask. I'm not core gamer, but I'm a hardcore Zelda fan.

But I feel like nintendo payed off reviewers because there is such a big discrepancy between user reviews and critic reviews(for example metacritic gives it 98 and users 7.5) There is simply no way this game is better than Majoras Mask and only one point away from ocarina of time?No way. I have played Ocarina atleast 20-30 times in my lifetime and it is without a doubt the best zelda in the series. This game is good but honestly it doesn't seem like a 98 to me. To say this is the second best zelda is a travesty to be honest. What are your opinions gbatemp?

You can't really see it like that, 98/100 might be too much, but 7.5 is too low, especially if you consider there is 1/6 people who gave a negative review (some of them justify the negative score because they think that horizon zero dawn should have had a better critic note)
there are also lot of disgruntled people like this one :

For this game, I pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch even though i have wiiu. Me and my boyfriend Mykhail (Ace), both Nintendo fans, have been waiting too long for this game, but, at the end, it dissapointed us . Bad graphics, bad frame-rate, bad storytelling. I don]t reccomand this game, that's why my final score for it is 0/10. Shame, Nintendo !

I'm a nintendo fan (who owns a gaming pc and a ps4 pro) I like zelda, and I can enjoy this game despite its framerate, you can't honestly give it 0

TL;DR :

don't take "professionnal critics" notation too serisouly, and don't read people reviews at all.

I give it 8/10 and i don't even like zelda. Only zelda i ever played was link awaking dx for gameboy color and even this game i haven't finished. But i like open world games and this game is very large. I don't think it deserve 10/10 but definitely not lower than 8/10. Those who gave it 1-5/10 are sony fan boys or nintendo haters.

8/10 seems reasonable I agree 100%,the game is very good. I just think its ludicrous to call it better than OOT.

Sadly, metacritic's user reviews are useless when it comes to popular and hyped games like these. It's because, as people have said before me, many people put out a review with an agenda, either to just rate it too high or too low. I skimmed through the user reviews and many even said straight out that they hadn't even played the game they were just "counteracting the sony/nintendo fanboys".

So instead I tried to find out how trustable the professional critics were. I saw sites like dualshockers and thesixthaxis, which I believe are more inclined to favor sony games, gave it the same scores as everyone else. Sure, they could've been payed. What do I know? I haven't even played the game. Still gave it a 10/10 tho...

Nintendo didn't pay me to praise the Switch or Zelda:BotW but if they did.. I wouldn't mind. :P

The problem is the game reviewers got into the habit of giving subpar or just "ok" games 7/10 instead of 5/10 or 4/10. So now getting a 7/10 means the game isnt that good.

Honestly, the lack of polish on the graphics/performance knocks it down a few points for me, I have very high expectations of a Zelda title, and this doesn't pass muster. The aliasing is horrid, so much shimmering, looks decent in still pictures, but in motion the aliasing is very distracting, in particular the grass is a grainy shimmering mess in motion.
The frame rate is unstable, drops to 20fps is unacceptable.

Gameplay is alright, the open world mission list concept is a little tired imho, if I wanted to play Borderlands or GTA I'd play them. I play zelda for action adventure, mystery, and dungeons, I don't want a mission list and map targets spelling everything out for me. I also really don't like having to do errands and chores for various NPCs just to move the story forward.

7/10 Which is the lowest I've ever given a Zelda title.

Then you should play the original OoT and MM which were locked at 20fps max, with dips at 10fps. Seriously, the simple fact that people imagine Nintendo paying reviewers kinda annoys me. That's stupid. Then why not paying everyone to give high grades to all consoles & games? --' Oh, and so far, I think this deserves minimum 8.5/10. I didn't see any major flaws yet that could justify a mark as low as 7. The framedrops are very rare, and happen only when there is a lot of grass. Aliasing on the Switch version is almost inexistant if you play on a screen that's not 77 inches large, seriously. And updates may continue to bring optimization (ie less framedrops) on the Switch version, because we know it is first a rushed port.

10/10 IMO
It looks great and plays great.
The story is there. Yes its not a hand holder game. You will have to get out there and find some stuff.
But thats the pure fun in the game. Just enjoying the world. I climb very high just to see if i could. Followed animals to see where they go.
Did some hill surfing.

And when you get to battleing its something else. I dont think there is many games that come close to.

Overall i enjoy the game.

Loving it too at the moment. That bad, I forgot to pick up my Wife from work yesterday because I was busy finding Shrines. It's been a good while since I was hooked on something like this.
