I've had CFW/Luma3DS on this New 3DSXL (Galaxy) for about two months and everything worked perfectly. Installed flawlessly with https://3ds.guide/.

Although about a week ago, maybe 5% of the time, I'd have SSB completely freeze on me whether it be from my cartridge or a CIA. Completely frozen, screen would stay on even if I physically closed it. Usually holding the power for about 7 seconds would shut it off and it'd turn on fine. About 30 minutes ago, it froze on me again but this time when I try turning it on, the blue light stays illuminated but both screens stay black, no backlit. Won't let me access Decrypt9 or Luma's settings. I've tried booting with/without the SD card. Is my 3DS bricked?

I've tried, as I've read somewhere else, deleting the config.bin in my Luma folder, and still nothing.
If it helps, I had the latest build of Luma and was on 11.3. Any help would be appreciated and sorry if this isn't in the right section x_x

Not booting with sd out is a bit concerning. Do u have a game card or flashcart in the slot? If so, take it out and try to reboot. I would say maybe your sd is dying, but you said it's not booting without sd, so that idea is out the window.

Yeah, I've tried with and without a cartridge and got nothing. Whether the SD card is in or not, regardless didn't boot.

Have you tried putting the necessary files onto a different SD card and trying that?

I haven't, actually. Can you specify which folders I'd need to transfer? The only other micro SD I have at the moment is 8gb so I'd have to preserve space.

Problem is, if he did the guide 100%, the 3ds should boot just fine without sd.
He has a point, OP. If you claim you did the guide 100%, you would have put the arm9loaderhax.bin on the root of your CTR NAND.
That allows you to boot the system without an SD card in the system.

For a simple test, just copy the "arm9loaderhax.bin" onto another SD card. You don't need any other files.

Will do so right now and post what happens.

I know I successfully installed A9LH/Luma, it was working perfectly fine. Had the necessary apps like FBI, CHMM2, freeshop, etc. It just had a few hiccups while playing SSB and earlier randomly froze on me, and won't give me access to Decrpt9/Luma settings.

Well if you can't boot your 3ds without the SD card in, you don't have arm9loaderhax.bin on your CTR NAND which is a crucial step in the guide.

It's actually really not that serious a step, which is why it's not included in the main part of the guide. It's simply an optional step.

I did that step IIRC, like 90% sure x_x

Oh my god, okay so I did what you said and was able to boot into Luma's configuration screen, but once I went to tick the first option, the screen went black.. and wouldn't go back to that menu. I reinserted my SD into my computer, saw an empty Luma folder. Won't boot back to it though x_x any suggestions? thanks btw ;-;

Will do and update, thanks! Also, I totally forgot to include this, I feel its important.

One of the times I got a frozen screen, on boot up it said exactly:
"An error occurred:
Failed to apply 1 FIRM patch(es).
Press any button to shutdown"

I didn't make much of it since it turned on and functioned plenty of times afterwards, but would that be one of the main issues?

FIRM protection is turned on by default with Luma3DS. You might want to redownload either the latest stable or nightly.

Welp, thought it would've been done but its now reading the test files and the progress bar cannot be more vague with it saying it can take several minutes. Hopefully this all works out.

Did you update to the latest Luma?
