It's not the issue, there is nothing wrong with it. No radio is design to go through objects really and Bluetooth have specifically been design for short range. This is really not a new issue by any means. I would guess it's a Class 2 as well. Bluetooth 5 might be better, atleast it's ranged max for 240 m (or as some uncivilized people would say, 800 feet).

It's not fair to compare it to classic Wi-Fi or even AM/FM since that tech is developed for multiple clients connected, they got a dedicated connection point most of the time and not ad-hoc as Bluetooth uses. It does it job fine most of the time so people won't notice it.

Have you tried listning to radio underwater? Wireless signals doesn't travel well underwater. The body is made up by mostly water. Plus the LE from the bluetooth won't make it any better. Only thing that would help is external antennas if so. In the end, it all depends on how you hold it. A gorilla like me might have issues with it until I get used to them. (Then again, I will most likely exclusivly use it as a tablet)

1. The problem can be avoided by holding the joy-cons normally and not having people between you and the console.

2. Nintendo can and probably will release an update that transforms the current configuration for the Joy-cons into "Power Saving Mode", and will create an option that increases signal strength in exchange for a few hours of battery life.

3. The battery lasts for 20 hours, if it drops to 10 hours, it is still more than most controllers.

Ehh.. I really wouldn't worry about it -too- much. I'm sure for 90 percent of the people it won't be too bad unless they try to use the joycons as a backscratcher.

I know they do for charging, but I was curious about data connectivity. I've never seen the terminals of the joycons in any videos or pics yet.

Yes they do. And even if they didn't... this would not be an issue.

Certainly something they must be aware of now that it's in the media. Should be fixable (to some extent) via firmware update.

well they do no motion controls work when you have them plugged into the tablet the touch controls activate instead.

Most likely they'll either increase the power of the bluetooth signal via update, whether to the console or the joycons themselves is up to nintendo. The other option would be a new revision of JoyCon.
