How good is GBA emulation through retroarch?
typically gpsp is the way to go in terms of gba emulation. it is very game dependent on what runs full speed and what doesn't (more on O3ds), and random crashes have been an issue. If the game is crashing, just use a VC inject or install a .cia of the gba game from the iso site. On N3ds, almost everything is at full speed.

I have a problem with loading games from the history menu.
Every game crashes retroarch. (1.4.1)
what could that be?

I was told the latest mgab is better than gpsp in terms of performance, is that true?
depends on console and game. Some games run better on one than the other, and gpsp has been known to crash on certain games. It might be a N3ds thing, but last time I tried, mgba still wouldn't come close to the framerate gpsp would give me for pokemon emerald. (on my O3ds)

Thank you very much, I'm using O3ds for emualtions, so I will install gpsp then.

That would be alot of icons, since you just have to copy the 'retroarch' folder, and then install the .cia files for the cores you want to use. those icons are the ones which appear on the home screen.

ok. VC injects/pre-compiled CIAs or gba games would be your other option if you are having issues with gpsp crashing

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
