Solved my save state problem. I found some games just didn't generate saves when leaving the emulator but after checking the roms all the ones that didn't work had a name that an extra "." (e.g Final Fantasy III (U) (V1.1) [!].smc)

Hackchi2 does some processing on the name to strip out problem characters, but that example file becomes: Final_Fantasy_III__U___V1.1_____.smc and while the game runs no save state is generated leaving the emulator. Stripping out the V1.1 part (really just the period) fixes this. It's quicker to just delete the game from Hakchi2, rename the rom and re-add it rather than renaming it and editing the .desktop manually.

It's worth keeping in mind since this will probably apply to all cores.

thx! that finally fixed my savestate problems which I had with Super mario world 1.1 Donkey kong country 1.1 and so on!

So, I'm the only dude here who tries to use nestopia? ._.
This core does not work, what do I try... =_='
If someone here is enable to launch Asterix with nestopia, at the right speed and without any bug, please make a tutorial or help me...
Also tested 32x with @pcm720 module and same result : blackscreen and return to menu after select a game with the bon/32x command line. D:
Are you saying that PAL games are still not supported? I too am planning on running some PAL roms (NES/SNES maybe even N64) although I've not had time to download 2.12 yet...

From my previous tests, PAL games runs with Retroarch automatically at the right speed with nestopia, BUT hakchi systematically uses fceumm, so PAL games are still not supported (speedup, or breaking like Asterix, with fceumm) in my point of view...

edit: Hold it! Here is a working solution: change fceumm to nestopia in "nes" file (/bin/nes) and use the command line --retroarch.

In french 'cause now it's really pissed me off:
Pour l'amour de Dieu putain de bordel de merde, est ce qu'il y a ici quelqu'un qui arrive à booter une rom nes sur nestopia depuis le menu de la console ?

crackage ! lol je te comprends ;) encore une ligne de commande a la ... ! :gun:
Perso j'aimerai trouver comment enlever les scanlines sur fceumm lorsqu'on active le filtre CRT, avec ça rame complet !!
Si tu as la solution a ton probleme je suis preneur !

et aussi : how to remove the thumbnails a the bottom please ? l'option a disparu dans le 2.12

Having an issue. I have total 56 NES games. 5 sega. 5 snes. 5 n64 games. 4 folders. And the NES one is split A-Z. I cannot get the red power led to turn off after the 4th "too many roms" screen during flashing. Any ideas?
How big are the N64 ROMs? I had this when I had too many n64 ROMs. 5 should be fine though unless they are huge games. I managed to get 7 n64 games on mine when I had the N64 folder as leftmost.

So if I'm to understand correctly, can I load SNES, N64, Genesis, etc. games straight from the default menu with the RetroArch mod?

In that case, do I just add the ROMs in hakchi as I would load any other NES ROM?

CPS2. It's me nesito. :)

PS: I need to sleep now.
But...

@nesito

I've got another problem now. Since I added "--retroarch" in the global command line arguments field, my 2 .fds games won't run. I run them, get a black screen and then get sent back to NESC gui. I'm trying to run Alien: Alien 2 (Proto) and Transformers: The Headmasters (Japan). They ran fine in the NESC gui, but now that I've switched over to running them in retroarch, they won't run at all.

Argh....if it's not one thing it's another lol

Does retroarch need a fds bios when its running through the NESC, or is it already built in?

Great that this works, accept not with me, possibly i am doing something wrong.
I do not know where the mod files go, i just wanted a system that when i turn it on i see, NES, SNES, SMS, MD, GB & PCE folders.
Inside the NES folders i would like to see the original 30 games, with the other 30 games i added.
In the other folders about 10 games a folder.
I do not want to scroll through RA.

If anyone can tell me how to do this, i would be a happy monkey.
retroarch.hmod goes in the folder user_mods. The zip file goes just in the Hakchi2 folder (root), you actually don't need it if you want RetroArch to be hidden. After that you need to install the module through Hakchi2, next to File -- Kernel.

What snes controller are you guys using ? I'm planning to have a set of controllers for each system of play . I'm looking the cheapest working solution. Oh and if you know a good working n64 controller id like to know that also thanks

You need to add the --retroarch in command line of the game you want. If change in command line global it's change for all, I think. Remove the --retroarch from global command line.

Rgs.

To make work 32X is needed Picodrive core, add make a bin to call the core.

@nesito Hi guy ! Can you help me, please ? I've installed Retroarch (without we can see) in Mini Nes Classic because I can run Super Mario Mart. Yet, I can't play Astérix or Beauty and the Beast or The Mysterious Murasame Castle and I've written command line "--retroarch" in every game. Why to your mind ? Thanks.

NEED HELP WITH FOLDERS / CUSTOM FOLDERS, I CAN'T SEE THAT SCREEN where all of you are altering them, I hit "automatic" under that option and SYNC nothing pops up..

Using Hakchi2 2.12 Today's build from page 212 of this thread, I loaded all 670+ NTSC NES Roms.. Incorporated RetroArch so I can play the Mapper issues NES games etc.. All games are playing fine.... however some minor issues which can hopefully someone can help!
  1. can I re-name the folders to correspond with the games FULL Name of the games that are in the folders ? In other words right now it shows abbreviated text for game(s) listed in folders as opposed to the full name... Any way to fix that ?
  2. Also I've watched videos of getting to a certain screen, for whatever reason the custom folder screen doesn't display / popup when I hit sync with NES classic as it works for others ?! How do I get the custom folder screen within Hakchi2 2.12 to pop up ?
  3. How can I alter the artwork of those folders once I have that menu/screen up.

Don't select automatic if you want to customise the folders. Select "Custom - Show Folders Manager every time" then when you hit sync the folder manager will appear.

1. You can rename them anything you want
2. That's the Folder Manager, don't select automatic folders.
3. In the folder manager, select the folder then click on the artwork that appears.

I installed the Hakchi2 2.12 and the only problem I am having if there is anyway to keep the Bilinear Filtering off when in the video settings? Every time I turn it off and reset the NES mini it resets to ON.
