Few questions regarding 2.12

- I hear its possible to automatically apply boxart if it is in the same folder as the ROM folder you are importing; how does this work? I only have the "browse" and "Google" options.
- Is it possible to remove certain cores from the retroarch.hmod?
- How does one know how much space is available in the NESC?

- If we enable certain Game Genie codes for the NES games, are they enabled permanently, or is there a toggle available?

Having an issue. I have total 56 NES games. 5 sega. 5 snes. 5 n64 games. 4 folders. And the NES one is split A-Z. I cannot get the red power led to turn off after the 4th "too many roms" screen during flashing. Any ideas?

Source ZIp? or taR? also after I do that then i just drag the hmod folder etc and ignore the batch file thingy? and readme.md >?
Yes download source zip file not tar file then unzip retroclover. Then move just retroarchhdmod folder into usermods in hackchi and delete the other one you had. That will give you a folder and all the access you need instead of just a program that you can't edit. When you download the retroarchhmod and not the source file zip you are just downloading a quicker ready to go file which is what most of us have to to begin with. I spent all day figuring this out

I'm running into Mega Man X's anti-piracy measures while trying to play through it on the NES Classic right now (power-ups disappearing quickly, the game skipping stages, etc.). Is there anything that can be done about this currently? I imagine if X is getting set off some of the other SNES games must get set off by the Retroarch emulator too.

Could someone please explain about retroarch.
I am wanting to add Mega Drive roms.
Do i just add roms using latest Haxchi or do i need to add other files?

Thanks

I've made some changes to Cluster's RetroArch module since default settings were not quite to my liking.
If someone needs it, it's available on GitHub

Here are all the changes:
  • Added Stella core for Atari 2600 emulation
  • System dir is now '~/system'
  • Core info dir is now '~/info', also added info files. They're really useful if you use RetroArch's GUI.
  • RGUI default browser dir is now '/usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi' instead of '/'
  • Disabled bilinear filtering for every preset
  • Enabled integer scaling
  • Greyscale palette for Gambatte core

Wow!!! that's amazing!!! thank you for all your great work and contribution! I was really looking forward to Stella core :)
Few noob-questions though:
1)When I add Atari2600 roms, do they have to be in .a26 format? for Stella to recognize them I mean...
2)When I install RetroArch, do all the NES roms still load through the original NES emulator (from NES MINI)?? (I haven't changed anything in command lines etc)
3)How can I change the color pallette for the original Gameboy games (it shows them in black and white)..
Is it possible to have the light-green color pallette of the original gameboy? Can it be done from the RGUI in-game menu?
or does it have to be set in a config file and then re-installing the retroarch.hmod???
Edit: also the original gameboy aspect ratio is a bit off (it crops a little bit from top and the bottom of the screen
Thanks in advance and once again congratulations for your great work!

1. Not really. You'll have to add /bin/a26 to extra args manually anyway (most likely)
2. If game's mapper is supported by kachikachi, yes. Add "--retroarch" to extra args to force Hakchi2 to use RetroArch.
3. Yes. Get into RA menu by pressing Select+Start, in core options choose the palette you need, then save configuration.
4. Aspect ratio is fine. Make sure that overscan is disabled in your TV's options.

Thank you very much for your fast reply!
When you say "add manually /bin/a26" to extra args, you mean to do it inside hackchi2 GUI for each A2600 rom?
Because when I added Gameboy classic roms, i didn't do anything and it automatically added /bin/gb to the extra args and all games worked
out of the box.

Great that this works, accept not with me, possibly i am doing something wrong.
I do not know where the mod files go, i just wanted a system that when i turn it on i see, NES, SNES, SMS, MD, GB & PCE folders.
Inside the NES folders i would like to see the original 30 games, with the other 30 games i added.
In the other folders about 10 games a folder.
I do not want to scroll through RA.

If anyone can tell me how to do this, i would be a happy monkey.

So, I'm the only dude here who tries to use nestopia? ._.
This core does not work, what do I try... =_='
If someone here is enable to launch Asterix with nestopia, at the right speed and without any bug, please make a tutorial or help me...
Also tested 32x with @pcm720 module and same result : blackscreen and return to menu after select a game with the bon/32x command line. D:

Yes. I'm still not sure exactly how Hakchi2 detects file type. It's likely you'll need to add /bin/a26 yourself for every A2600 game

That's why I added it as "not tested".
I'll look at it when I'll have the time

@Cluster

After some testing, I could say that all FDS games that are part of the original 30 games of the famicom mini does not work (Castlevania, Zelda 1 and 2, Metroid) but any FDS games added through hakchi works fine.

In french 'cause now it's really pissed me off:
Pour l'amour de Dieu putain de bordel de merde, est ce qu'il y a ici quelqu'un qui arrive à booter une rom nes sur nestopia depuis le menu de la console ?

Considering the clovercon controller driver is opensource, it might be worth trying to figure out why third party controllers aren't working and adding support in.

check the video i just posted. Shows how to change your default N64 core.
Ok man, thank's...did you know the page?

Custom Boxart - file renaming.

Thank's for the guide, easy, fast and N64 games work perfectly!

Do you have any suggestion abut big dimension games like paper mario?

Solved my save state problem. I found some games just didn't generate saves when leaving the emulator but after checking the roms all the ones that didn't work had a name that an extra "." (e.g Final Fantasy III (U) (V1.1) [!].smc)

Hackchi2 does some processing on the name to strip out problem characters, but that example file becomes: Final_Fantasy_III__U___V1.1_____.smc and while the game runs no save state is generated leaving the emulator. Stripping out the V1.1 part (really just the period) fixes this. It's quicker to just delete the game from Hakchi2, rename the rom and re-add it rather than renaming it and editing the .desktop manually.

It's worth keeping in mind since this will probably apply to all cores.
