Hi I've recently bought a O3DS with a CFW firmware RX-E.0.0-33U and I wanted to update it to the latest CFW firmware 11.3 but; I've just read that RXtools is already outdated so I went up and search for some fixes and stumbled upon the idea of arm9, I went to this site called 3ds guide but I feel like I'm lost on where to start after clicking get started and choosing O3DS since I already have a CFW installed; what should I do next? Any help is much appreciated since I'm new to this kind of thing and I'm sorry for that.

Start https://3ds.guide from scratch. Ignore the fact that you have CFW. Boot to SysNAND, backup your EmuNAND and SD card and proceed from there.

Also, it's not "Arm9". ARM9 is usually used to refer to the ARM9 CPU in the 3DS. The hack is ARM9LoaderHax, and it isn't a CFW. It's just an entrypoint, which is then used to load a CFW such as Luma3DS (the most common one, and simplest to use), Corbenik (poweruser CFW, more control over options, not for new people to the scene), etc.

thanks for the clarification, so that means I'll disregard everything and start from scratch after the backup; but it autoboots to Rxtools once I turn it on, sorry I'm really a newbie with this kind of stuff

I assume it is using MenuHax. As such, you can boot by removing the SD card, turning the console on, then inserting the card and change the theme to something else. That'll remove MenuHax. After that, back up your SD card (ofc, if you care about the data). You don't *need* to backup EmuNAND because it'll stay in the card anyway, and you will be able to dump/restore it AFTER the guide.
So, basically: Remove MenuHax by changing the theme after booting without the SD and resinserting it, then follow the guide.
