I'm not sure of that. the app would have to be fixed for that. there's a version of wiixplorer that can read ustealth. that's an app u need a toggle switch for. it will read ur stealth drive, but a second drive will prevent u from seeing the content of the stealthed drive. it's a bug will the app rather than ustealth though. I dunno how it will appear to an emulator. mt guess is that it wouldn't see it. u could try a toggle switch with ur virtual wii drive. that will work as u'll be turning the drive off with a switch..

I suppose if theres only a few games im interetsted in emulating I could just store them on the sd? there's only the odd NES, SNES and mega drive games I would likely play anyhow.

yes, I have my gamecube games on an sd card since it doesn't work with 2 drives connected, and it doesn't count if ur using the virtual wii drive to store ur games. it will still fail. on the sd card, both drives will be hidden.

So you are using a sd card for GC, a usb hdd for Wii and second usb hdd for WiiU?

I was thinking: NES, SNES and Mega Drive on the sd (32GB), Wii & GameCube on one USB drive with ustealth and a second drive with my WiiU backups on. Would this work?

yes, it won't work. nintendont reads both hdds if u select them in usb loader gx. the problem is that even though the drive is stealthed, ur still loading the game from the that drive. ur only option otherwise is to turn off via a toggle switch or unplug the wii u drive. u can't partition the wii u drive at all. it's all formatted by the wii u for the wii u.

So nintendont would try access the WiiU backup drive even though it's in a different format causing some conflict? Thats a shame! I was hoping nintendont would just read the Wii/GC drive and ignore the WiiU one.

Looks like I'm expecting to much from the usstealth app, although I thought the ustealth app would stop the WiiU mode seeing that ustealth drive and thought the vWii mode would only see the ustealth drive and sd and not the WiiU formated drive.

it will. the format doesn't matter. it simply can't read two usb drives connected at the same time. u'll get a region error if u try. that's y I use an sd card. leave them there 'til a fix exists.

So just to be clear I can have the following:

NES, SNES, MegaDrive & GC on SD then Wii backups on a USB drive with ustealth and a second usb drive with WiiU format. All plugged in at the sametime and it should work?

But I cant at the moment have GC on the USB drive with the Wii backups unless I switch the WiiU drive off with a switch.

Just seem's strange that the guide shows how to use nintendont and ustealth. I launch all my GC titles through USB Loader GX

some apps can read ustealth which is why the wii u can't. every app can theoretically, but it has to be compiled for it. if u want to use emulators, ur best bet is to use a toggle switch unless u can compile the emulators with ustealth. there r no official ones that I know of. most emulator devs have moved on, so it's up to u.

In the guide it shows how to install ustealth on the usb drive with USB Loader GX and Nintendont and both Wii and GC support so I'm struggling to understand why I would need the GC games on the SD? Surely the emulators if on the sd card along with there roms would have no impact on the USB drive.

ur wii u is one drive; the other drive houses ur gamecube games. it's no longer stealthed if ur using the drive with ur gc images. nintendont won't allow reading two drives, so it's reading from ur virtual wii drive as well as the wii u one - not possible atm.

Penny has dropped haha, the guide clearly states the setup without using a second drive, which then wouldn't cause concern. So keeping your GC backups on the SD effectively keeps the Wii usb in stealth mode not causeing problems with the WiiU drive.

I'm so sorry it took me so long to understand that

So ideally we need Nintendont to work with ustealth aswell

Isn't there a way to play with the Wii U pro controller to Wii games that support Gamecube controller (like Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkashi 3, MKWii...) ? I hate Wiimote for some reasons, thanks !

is Wiiflow the only loader compatible with SD Cards? So far i've put 3 games in my sd card (Rune Factory Frontier, Mario Galaxy, TvC) and only RFF shows up in the Wiiflow menu.

Hi there,
I have a question regarding this guide. For the modified IOS is "Installing Modified IOS 236" the latest one to use. I have been looking at a guide on github as well, which suggested IOS80 (also crafted by a gbatemp member), so I was wondering if this is simply a case of "236 is higher than 80", or if there is something more to it, with them being made by different users. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

(Side question. Can a Wii game .iso simply be put into any folder on the SD card and run off of that? Instead of loading off of the USB with USB loader GX? And would that still require some other type of loader?)

hey everyone. followed this guide to the T and i have had no issues except i have found USB loader gets stuck on initializing USB screen

ive found that waiting to plug the external hard drive in until its searching for HD is a solution.

also sometimes there is a slightly glitched line in the middle of the screen when there is movement but it is not very bothersome at all!

Id like to thank everyone involved for working on all of this and all the people who built and contributed to this guide specifically, because it helped me.

Now I was wondering if everything was up to date in this guide, and if there are other things I can do with my wiiu that I should be aware of that arent necessarily included in this guide.

Like blocking updates from nintendo, or being able to run Wii U games or any virtual console game (I saw something about that I swear) or ds games

Im also wondering if PS1 emulator is something to try or if its basically unplayable...

Using external HD on vwii

I just reinstalled "d2xv10-beta53-alt-vWii" as described in the guide again (Installing cIOS 249, 250 and 251, step 4).
Same result as before. Selecting cIOS 251 I come back to the vWii when trying to launch the game.
What can be wrong? The Homebrew Chanel? The forwarder to USB Loader GX? USB Loader GX iteself?
(Maybe I also have the wrong games. I will test other games soon.)
I start getting desperate...

On my old Wii (No U) the mics work as expected!
Maybe only the back USB can be used for the Wii U? I tried the front ones.
How can I connect at the back if my HDD requires both USB Slots for power?

Thank you very much for this detailed, simple guide. I followed the entire guide and have USB Loader up and running, with backed up games working great.

I am however having an issue installing Wiiware WADs. When I try to use Yet Another Wad Manager to install the Wiiware titles, I get an Exception occurred (DSI) black screen with code dump numbers. I have to pull the plug on my WiiU to turn it off.

The exception occurs when I navigate to the WAD folder on my SD card with the Wiiware WADs in it. I have already successfully installed the Homebrew and USB Loader channel forwarders using the WAD manager, so I know that feature works. I also tried using only one of the Wiiware WADs in the folder at a time, but that still caused the exception to occur.

Does anyone have any info about this? Or is there an easier way to install Wiiware titles? Thank you for your help.

Would you happen to be using a Mac to do this?
If so, several "hidden" files are created by Finder that disrupt YAWMM's flow. These files always begin with "._" and can be deleted easily. Look it up on Google.

Thanks for your reply! Yep, I am on a Mac.

Since I already installed the forwarder channels from the SD card without deleting those hidden files, I would assume that is not the problem. But I will give it a shot.
