I was thinking to get a Wii to play arcade games on it on CRT TV. I m really interested because it can output to 240p :) but I don't know if the games will run smooth.
Games like: Final Fight, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Knights of the Round .... and some other less famous ones :P

First of all, there is a dedicate Neo Geo emulator and lots of VC Neo Geo games and injected ones. They all run perfectly and look great on a CRT TV @ 240p. That should satisfy your immediate appetite. Then there are different MAME, CPS1, CPS2 and FBA cores for Retroarch.......... which brings up a sour point......
If you find the right ROM set, and manage to find a RA build that actually works, you should be able to flawlessly play hundreds, if not thousands of games ! I tried it myself, and under the right circumstances the emulation and "feel" is spot on. I even use an xarcade joystick connected to the GC controller port.
So if you are willing to invest some time in it and go through some frustration for the inevitable crashes and loss of settings etc... you should be able to really enjoy it for life. As peculiar as it is, the Wii IS actually the only emulation machine out there capable fo outputting 240p on a CRT TV, everything else nowadays ( even if more powerful and easy to use ) seem to be stuck with an HDMI port, even my PC.....

Here what I use on my Wii:

Retroarch Final Burn - This one have a very big compatibility list, and the majority of the games runs very good. Sometimes you will find games that run slow, or with sound problems. It's runs all games with 240p, but the original arcade machines don't have a default resulution, so, some sprites can become a little deformed with 240p, it's depends of the game.

Retroarch Final Burn CPS1, Final Burn CPS2 - Run any games from these boards in 240p

Retroarch Final Burn Neo Geo - Run many games from Neo Geo in 240p, but some famous like Garou Mark of The Wolfs and King of Fighters 97 and above are not working on it

Virtual Console Neo Geo - You can run at 240p some games that Retroarch don't run like King of Fighters 97, 98, 99, Shock Troppers 2, and more...

Retroarch Mame 2000 - This one have a very big compatibility with Mame 037b11 romset and can run the games with samples and at 240p. But it's have some problems: Some games will have garbled sprites, and the same 240p problem mentioned at Retroarch Final Burn

Retroarch Mame 2003 - This one have a small compatibility with mame2003 romset, but it can run at 240p games like Buck'o'Hare, Wildwest Cowboy of Moomesa and Cosmo Police Galvan

Virtua Console Arcade - You need to find the japanese region free wads from VC Arcade. It's have many games that you will not run in any version of mame or Final Burn like Karate Champ and Burning Force. I'm not sure, but I think you can not run VC Arcade at 240p

SDL Mame Wii - You can not run this one at 240p, and you have to fix the screen resolution everytime you load a different game, but it's can run many games that any other emulator or Virtual Console can't run like Charlie Ninja, Venture, and many others.

It was easy to bypass some of the restrictions, as one of the admins left a registry key in the administrative shares drive, which allowed me to get around the blocking of some sites.
