I think A decent number of people want multiple apps as well as one channel. I know on my 3ds I prefered separate icons for each core over the one app icon
But why? You can load any core from any other core now, that's the whole point it was added for. All the individual cores go in the core folder, and then you have the main rpx.

Does nobody understand that there is only going to be one channel, which loads the cores from your SD card? There is only a need for one icon, unless the menu in libretro is going to eventually have a GUI with images and not just text.
BTW, for the boot sound I will combine both of @ploggy's suggestion and the 14.wav suggested by the other user. I'll give you a PoC at night in Loadiine format. Why? Because you don't want to install some PoCs onto your nand/usb. Do you? Then depend on @brienj's and @aliaspider's feedback, I'll make PR to Libretro's repo with all of the meta files I made and add the channel's make target on the repo.
By now, I'll be a little busy.
Just to be clear, I'm actually trying to contribute on Libretro's repo.

It's just some people's preference. I personally like seeing multiple icons with each system on it myself and clearly others do too.

The cores will no longer be going in the wiiu/app folder, they will be going in the cores folder, and the only one that will show up in HBL, or be made into a channel, is the main retroarch.rpx file.

I personally would want multiple apps
You can put them on your SD card as separate apps, but it's really a waste of space, considering the cores go in the cores folder now. If you load another core now, it gets it from the cores folder. I think people are missing the whole point of Retroarch, it's supposed to be just the main app from which you load any core you want.

I know, what I'm doing is preparing stuff for buildbot to give full channel versions for every retroarch core (incluiding the main app).

I noticed that today's builds are broken, hopefully they get updated to their proper size, and mGBA works again.

Ok, but like I said multiple times, the cores are loaded from the cores folder on your SD card, you'll still need the cores located there. It can't load another core from a channel.

It's a matter of preference to be honest.
I like having each core as a separate channel instead of a main one in my 3DS for example, I find the main RA app to be bloated with way more stuff than what I need, others like having only one channel instead of several, it all depends on the user.

Are you telling me that the snes9x you gave is just a forwarder? Why not to put the rpx/elf onto content?

That one I gave you was before he changed it to the new way too. It's obsolete now and won't even work with the new system.

I will eventually make a main channel for the retroarch.rpx file, but not until I make sure that it's not being planned, and it becomes obsolete again.

But no, it wasn't a forwarder at all, it would work without any rpx on the SD card, but used the old system, that you couldn't load the separate cores.

Just tested Zelda and it seems to be fixed, no loss of music after quick save/load. :)

ok so i just tried latest snes9x with msu1 and the issue is still there for me. i tried supermetroid and megamanx1. can you or someone else try either of those? just get into the game and load a savestate. the music doesnt play.

No, the sizes are only 140 and 145 KB, mGBA was broken from last night. The compiled builds failed today. No idea who to point out the broken sizes to.
And how do you know that mGBA works again if buildbot failed? xD

EDIT: Ah, I get now, you were wishing that mGBA work again, not that it actually does xD

I guess you are right, channels are coming a little redudant with every update of random homebrew. However I have only made meta files, I didn't mess with the code either with the makefile of retroarch. BTW, I want to teamwork with you on this channel's stuff, my goal is to make channels a thing for 1.5.0. How about it?

I just compile some of the stuff from time to time, and add things from time to time, I'm not really anyone that has any say on the matter. And if people are wanting to add channels for each and every core, they will probably be disappointed to know that if there is any channel officially made, it will only be for the main retroarch.rpx file. If there was a channel made for every core, it would require that the cores constantly got updated install files, or else they would have to constantly delete and re-install them every time an update for a core came out, and that's not fun, speaking from experience. Instead, with the method that is planned now, you have one main channel, and then just update the cores on the SD card.
