I'm trying to get my games to load off an NTFS partition. I'd like to use USBLoader GX but I've also tried Configurable USB Loader. I do have Hermes' cIOS installed and the loader has an option for NTFS but nothing shows up when I select it. Presumably it just isn't seeing any games. What do I need to do?

I put a .wbfs file, converted from an ISO, in the root of the partition. I have a few others in other places on the drive. Is there a specific place I need to put them? Do they need to be ISO format instead? One issue may be that the HD has two partitions, with partition 0 being WBFS and partition 1 NTFS. Would this be a problem? For simplicity and space management I want to have it all just NTFS but I want to make sure it's working before I delete the WBFS partition.

My drive is NTFS (not FAT32) and I know how to transfer/convert the games around already. So that guide isn't much use. :( I just need to know, what do I need to do to get games on my NTFS partition to show up?

love how people make accounts on gbatemp and ask silly questions and once they have the answer they leave and there is no "thank you"

so i installed hermes v5, deleted the config file from usb loader gx, and still he doesnt see the games..
they were all transfered with wbfs file onto the w:\wbfs folder
from what i can see, the structure is w:\wbfs\name [ID]\ìd.wbfs
so i wonder. what am i doing wrong?
im redownloading the usbloadergx, i kinda feel something is wrong there (since i cannot do updates cuz its says the console is locked.. and its not)

*edit*

crap i just saw something interesting
here http://docs.google.com/View?id=dfwvk5sg_0gksqfcdj&hl=en
is says in big ff** red letters
"update to 4.2 its not recomended"
mine is 4.2 u_u (altho it worked before on wbfs)

Try Configurable USB Loader ? I don't know really if there's any differences as this is the only one I use but mine is 4.2 and it works just fine. And the structure you described above is indeed correct. I don't know if the text file is essential though but with the structure above, besides the '' id.wbsf '' file I also have a text file there.

Also : my HDD is FAT and games are .wbsf, and it still works. .. I thought you need to format to wbsf to make the games work ?

Strange thing is when I configure it to use NTFS automatically then it fails to load the drive 90% of the time. I set it to use WBFS and then it will complain there is no partition and ask me to select one and it works perfect every time. Weird little bugs. Maybe the drive has be spin up for a second before trying to be accessed.

And .wbfs files are meant for FAT and NTFS filesystems since the only way to access a WBFS is to use a program that automatically converts isos to the right format which scrubs them and such. (or so I think)

Here is how I did it:

First, make sure you're running the latest USB Loader GX and have cIOS 222 and 223 installed.

Second, go here to download the Wii Game Manager: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=199151

Third, extract the .rar file somewhere and run Simple. Open the folder where you have any and all ISOs. Right-click on the game you want to convert and select "Create .wbfs" -> "No split" and save it somewhere. If you want to before hand, go to your external USB HDD and create a folder called "wbfs". Then you can just save the .wbfs file in that folder.

Once you have your games loaded on your HDD, plug it into your Wii (the port closest to the edge of the Wii), turn the system on, and run USB Loader GX.

Give the program to load up as it will look for the wbfs folder. Now, should the games still not show up, go to Settings and click Game Load. There is an option for FAT to look for the games in directories. it will show "None" but just click it once and you're set. Don't worry if it says FAT, it works for NTFS as well.

You should be good to go.

No Gamecube on NTFS. Everything works on FAT32 so it's the best option. :P
I have one flash drive thats in WBFS and only has one rom on it (its a small drive, I have another thats in fat32 for other games.). the rom is too big for FAT32 so would formatting it to NTFS make it work with latest usbloaderGX?

It should but there's no need to switch from FAT32 to NTFS for Wii games. You can convert the game files to .wbfs format on FAT32 and split them at the 4GB boundary. cIOSes will run the game as if they were one file. Either Wii Backup Manager or Wiimm's ISO Tools can do it automatically.

I just did that with a tool from isotowbfs.com, and now to see if it works.
EDIT: now I can't see any of my wbfs games...

I don't know what ISO to WBFS is. I use either Wii Backup Manager or Wiimm's tools. WBM works fine for everything except Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It corrupts that game's partition table.
