I have a capture card N3DS by Katsukity that I want to install CFW and such on. Has anyone done this? Did you run into any problems? Anything I should be careful of?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I just don't want to break it (since they're expensive). I am familiar with the mod process so no worries there at least. I was concerned that maybe their hard mod works with 3DS mobo or something and re flashing the NAND would mess that up (even though I can't imagine their mod having anything to do with the NAND)

well the bricking only occurs if you do something wrong prior to the downgrade process, but there should be updated guides that have safer methods now

just treat it as a stock console.

Awesome stuff to hear. Certainly not afraid of the mod process. Did one last night with no issues. Thanks everyone, for your input!

Main thing here for me is removing the region lock. I'd prefer to not have two consoles (and obviously be able to record both US and JP games without dropping another absurd amount of money on a US capture card)

Thanks for the confirmation! I do have another question too, how does modding work when swapping SD cards? Can you just copy the contents of the old card to the new one?
a9lh is added to the nfirm(s) that on the 3DS's nand. This a9lh looks for a SD:/arm9loaderhax.bin file [on the sdcard] if that's not there [and you're using the latest a9lh] it'll look for one on the 3ds's nand [ctrnand]
As the a9lh is in the nand itself you can just copy the contents of 1 sdcard to another [with some extra steps if you're also transferring an emunand]

Ah, great. No emunand so I don't think that will be a problem.
