The Switch will cost $299.99 in the US, £279.99 ($341.11) in the UK, AU$469.95 ($352.89) in Australia , 29,980 yen ($260) in Japan and €330 ($351.23) in Europe.

Why is the price of the Switch so high in Europe and Australia ? I don't remember having enormous import taxes at all and the prices of the PS4 and the Xbox One are also roughly the same (ex: the PS4 is $260.95 in the US and $266.08 in Europe).

So why would Nintendo charge us with nearly $100 more than in Japan and more than $50 more than in the US ?

The price in the US doesn't include sale tax (about 10%) and the European price includes sales tax which can be a lot higher. It all evens out.

Yep US customers have to pay state sales tax. UK we have VAT and this is my order invoice from yesterday:

Item Subtotal: £233.33
Postage & Packing: £0.00

Total Before VAT: £233.33
VAT: £46.66

Order Total: £279.99

and i also think the fact dollar being so close to euro now, is a big effect

i thought the switch costed 300 euros, but 330 is a rip off....
doesn't the US price already includes VAT\taxes?

what about european game prices?

Nope, each state has its own sales tax and cities can add on top of that.
