So I recently discovered Soundhax, and I was very excited. Not only did I upgrade my 4-GB micro SD card to a 16-GB for my New 3DS, but I was waiting for a chance to return back to the Homebrew menu. I said return, because I had Homebrew before I updated to 11.2. Because of my 16-GB SD card and of pure excitement, I downloaded QuickNES, GameYob 3DS, and Nestopia, including at least 4 roms for both GB and NES. So, I put all my roms in a folder called "roms", (obviously) turned on my N3DS, and started Nestopia. I selected a rom, specifically Super Mario Bros. + Duck Hunt. It froze.. I thought it was loading it or something. I waited for a few minutes, but no dice. So I turned it off, selected QuickNES, and the same thing happened. Next, I selected GameYob 3DS, but it wouldn't even go to the menu! Red bottom screen, black top screen. mGBA and Pocket Snes works like the usual, so it's just the emulators I downloaded recently. Please, what am I doing wrong?!

You'll need the correct RetroArch folder for your version. Download either the latest stable or nightly, and put the RetroArch folder on the root of your SD card. :) You may want to install the CIA files from whatever version you choose, too, YMMV.

Will pocket snes be affected? Do I have to redownload Pocket Snes in its latest build so that it is usable?

Good question. It shouldn't be affected, especially if it started without the RetroArch folder/files. If you download nightlies it's changed to snes9x2002.

QuickNES has spotty / poor ROM compatibility - and thus it should only be used on O3DS as the only option which runs full speed for that model. Get rid of it and stick to Nestopia and FCeumm for NES / FDS emulation. Similarly (but nowhere near as pronounced), GameYob isn't quite as compatible as Gambatte for your GBC needs (but it does have some nice features), so install and try Gambatte too.

Also, I'd probably stick with the trusted old 1.3.2 / 1.3.3 stable builds instead of any recent nighties.

Lastly, I'd try alternate versions of the ROMs you're having trouble with. I've yet to find a clean ROM that FCeumm couldn't run, for example.
