Hello guys,

I got a few questions regarding the new method of installing A9LH and Luma CFW. I have a 3DS who's already CFW ready using the previous guide (Emunand I think?) and I did the system transfer for all 3 of my 2DS consoles. Right now, I have one 3DS with the capture card with the A9LH and Luma CFW ready. It's all set up so whenever I want to do a wifi battle, I can do it.

The question is now, how can I remove the Luma CFW for the other 2 2DS? They have the same friend code that the current capture card has so I want to remove that from the 2 2DS and make them brand new. I was wondering on how you do that. Do I remove the CFW via Formatting it in the 2DS and format the SD Card? I was planning on doing that, but Luma would require the SD card to stay on unless the console will power off?

After trying the new soundhax and safehax method, decrypt9wip wouldn't load. I tried using the homebrew launcher from the home menu, Cubic Ninja exploit, Ocarina of Time 3D Hax, Steel Diver hax, and they all cannot load the safehax. It would boot up safehax, but it won't run. Both screen will stay black, so I don't know what to do. I want to remove the previous CFW and make the 2DS a "virgin" I guess and reinstall it from the beginning if you get what I mean.

I hope this is enough information, so I was wondering if you guys can help me, it would be greatly appreciated! :D

*All 3 2DS are in 11.2.0-35 U and has A9LH and Luma CFW installed already.
I downgrade the 2 2DS to 9.2 at the moment since I tried doing it to 2.1, but for some reason, I can't get the OTP.bin, so I don't know what to do. So I was wondering if I can make it a blank slate and do it all over again and hopefully I can get 3 separate 3DS with Luma ready!

First, are you using this guide? https://3ds.guide/get-started

Second, could you break it down for each 3DS? For example:

3DS #1: 11.2, what happens when it first turns on, does it go into the Luma3DS settings when you hold down Select, etc.
3DS #2:
3DS #3:

You get it.

https://github.com/Plailect/Guide_RedNAND/wiki/

That website is when I first started using and doing the A9LH and Luma CFW process.

3DS #1: 11.2.0-35 U. All normal.
3DS #2: 9.2.0-20 U. Just used the ctr-transfer to downgrade it from 11.2 to 9.2 using the x and power button to load up decrept9wip.
3DS #3: Still at 11.2 U. Haven't done anything yet. Still the same as the 3DS #2 without in 9.2 firmware.

So, what now? They all have Luma CFW, but they all have the same friend code as 3DS #1. How can I remove that or format 3DS #2 and #3 and make it brand new so I can use the new soundhax and safehax method on them?

After I got them at 11.0, all I did was update the luma and system update afterwords if that helps?

First, you shouldn't worry about your Friend Codes or formatting your 3DS systems until after they all have A9LH installed and are on 11.2.

Second, you should follow this guide from the beginning for each of your 3DS systems to get everything on A9LH and Luma3DS where we want them. To avoid complications, I would backup and clear your SD card and start from scratch.

https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)

Edit: You might have been unclear, but it doesn't sound like any of your 3DS systems have A9LH or Luma3DS installed.

Dude, I installed all of them individually with A9LH and Luma CFW. All I did was after I finished with one 3DS that had A9LH and Luma CFW installed, I made a backup. Afterwords, I system transferred it to 3DS #2 and made a back up for 3DS #1. After I finished installing A9LH and Luma CFW to 3DS #2, I did the same thing. Made a backup from that one and system transfer it to 3DS #3 and installed A9LH and Luma.

I did them all way before that website was even up.

What's next then?

If you are on 11.2 with A9LH and the latest version of Luma3DS, I don't see why you can't format the system. A9LH will remain intact, and your Friend Code should change. For the 3DS you haven't softmodded in any way, you can follow the above guide. No need to system transfer anymore.

So what, just format it and it should work then?
A format will change your Friend Code, but it won't remove A9LH. Instead of removing A9LH, I would just wipe the SD card, remove emuNAND if you have it, and put the latest Luma3DS arm9loaderhax.bin onto your SD card. Doing anything else is unnecessary.

This is what I would do too, OP. But doing what I posted should undo the A9LH if that's what you decide.

Hmm, interesting. So I should delete everything in the sd card but the arm9loaderhax.bin from the Luma, right?

You could probably just ctrtransfer to 9.2, undo the settings you set up in Luma, delete the arm9loaderhax.bin from CTRNAND in FBI and then update from Settings. That should do the trick.
This wouldn't remove A9LH. In order to boot the 3DS and get into the Settings in the first place, OP would be running Luma3DS, which would block overwriting A9LH.

Here are my steps:

1. Wipe your SD card of everything. If you have emuNAND, then you are going to want to use something like EaseUS Partition Master to wipe the hidden emuNAND partition on your SD card too.
2. Download the latest version of Luma3DS (6.6) and put the arm9loaderhax.bin onto your freshly wiped SD card.
3. Start your 3DS, and it should load the Luma3DS settings menu. Check the following settings:
  • “Autoboot SysNAND”
  • “Use SysNAND FIRM if booting with R”
  • “Show NAND or user string in System Settings”
  • “New 3DS CPU” to “Clock+L2(x)” (if using New 3DS)
4. Go into the System Settings. If you're on 9.0-11.1, update to 11.2 using the internet. If you're on something really low, like 2.1, stop and let us know so you don't brick.
5. When you're on 11.2, go into the System Settings and format the 3DS.

Ah, so it's not as easy as just reversing the install steps and updating from 9.2 to 11.2 via Settings once everything is removed.

The problem is that not everything would be removed; A9LH would still be on OP's system. That means the 3DS will refuse to boot without an arm9loaderhax payload like Luma3DS, and with Luma3DS, A9LH cannot be overwritten with an update.

Okay. I shall do that. I'm at 9.2 at the moment, so I will download the newest update of luma and delete the one currently in the sd card. Then format it using EaseUS or something similar. And then load up the 3DS and hit the options for Luma and then update to 11.2, right?

Then I think I have to use the universal injector to load up FBI right? Then I can load up cia files I think, correct?

All of that is correct if for whatever reason you're wanting to start from scratch and reset your Friend Code. Also, make sure you put the latest version of Luma3DS onto your SD card after you format it. If you put it on there before you format, you're just going to delete it again.
