Hello, I'm looking to get a laptop and I'm also looking for it to be able to play counter strike on medium settings at around 60 fps. The problem is that I know nothing about hardware aside to the 3ds.

My question is is this possible for under 600 USD/800 CAD and where would I go to get said laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Also, I live in Canada.

I don't know too much but what I can safely say is for 800 CAD you can definitely get something like that. Cs:GO isn't the hardest to run.

Thanks for the response! I was mainly wondering what amount would get me what performance as I would always prefer spending less money.

I can say that finding a laptop isn't going to be easy on that budget.

I own a Toshiba Qosmio X70-B-10T, and it can indeed run it easily. However, it is out of your budget range, and also, much newer, somewhat cheaper models came out after that.
Welp. I can say that running CSGO on my i7 Surface Pro 4 works fine, so a Skylake i7 laptop should be able to run it decently at 1080p or below (I play at 1366x768, sooo I don't know how it performs at 1080, for example), but it's around 70FPS or more at 768p iirc. That's the Surface, ofc. My Qosmio runs it at avg 150-160, same settings. Sooo.... A Skylake i7 or something with a decent CPU and GPU. Can't say much more.

It's going to be expensive as hell either way, even if you do find something less powerful can run CS.

They say something like this works, too.

It uses a Skylake i5, and has a 940MX.

It's cheap(ish), but is it really worth it? You could, for that price, build a much more powerful desktop PC.

He said he's looking for a laptop but he would get more for his money if th builds a pc.
I know that. I need a laptop either way and was wondering if the most powerful laptop 600Usd can get me can also run cs go. I've seen many on YouTube but I'm not quite sure what to get. That's why I was wondering what other people here had to say!

I think you should wait.

GTX1050 and GTX1050Ti laptops are being unveiled at CES 2017 as we speak. Will definitely provide best bang for the buck.

How about that?
How long will I have to wait and would I be getting older laptops with price drops as opposed to newer ones?

I've seen reviews of the 940MX and they can get well at or above 60 fps in csgo on high settings with simmilar specs.

NVIDIA® Geforce® 940MX 2GB GDDR5
4+4GB DDR4 Dual-Channel RAM

Intel Core i5 6th Gen 6200U (2.30 GHz)
