Does anyone know if this will work if you're already on luma? I'm getting the black screen issue and don't really want to keep trying if it just doesn't work on cfw.

No there are patches built in the CFW. If you really want to test it, you need Corbenik CFW.

Again, for anyone new to this stuff. if you follow the arm9 guide exact. You can NEVER lose arm9. Update. go to eshop. anything you want.

At least until an update comes out, but I'm sure there'll be 50 threads screaming about it when it does.

You should be fine to turn it off, just don't close the lid; if you want to be super safe do it in one go but closing the lid is all that's proven to cause problems.

You don't need to go to 9.2 at all; we needed that for ARM9 and Safehax is ARM9; you just go to 2.1 to install A9LH and from there you already have CFW.

It is the exploit that allows one to run CFW. If you follow the guide we linked you will have CFW when done.

I would advise doing it at a time when you can complete start to finish to avoid any issues.

You'd turn it back on later and still be on 2.1.
However, coming back later you may forget important things like "don't close the 3DS" (or someone else may touch it) so be very careful.

It is in the step where you CTRtransfer to 2.1, the guide will have you restore everything so yes.

You create the NAND backup when you're in Decrypt9; when you go to do a CTRTransfer it prompts to make a backup; just say yes there.
Your current legitimate content and saves will be fine, you restore the backup in the end (but keep A9LH).

If you want to be super safe, back up your SD card's contents, but really just following the guide should get you back where you started but with A9LH.
