I apologize, as I asked a portion of this question earlier, but thought I needed to clarify.

My main system, with my NNID and games I'd like to keep, is a stock 11.2 2DS, and I have a CFW O3DS that I basically just use to try out new games.

Getting a N3DS XL, that I want to CFW. Assuming it's 10.7 or below, what process should I follow to then make it my main system? Should I do a system transfer after I install the CFW? Should I just log into the new one and not system transfer?

Should my CFW O3DS play in part in this?

I assume then that you have a way to access homebrew on your 2DS? An OoT3D/Pokemon ORAS/Cubic Ninja/Freakyforms cart? If not, you'll probably want to get one before starting so that you can use homebrew to backup your saves on your 2DS. See this page and use a save manager like JKSM to backup your saves.

Next, since you'd need two transfers anyway if the N3DS isn't 10.7 or below, I'd recommed transferring from your CFW O3DS to your 2DS with exploited DSiWare and install A9LH/CFW on it, first. Your saves (and other data) on the O3DS will be lost, but that's why I recommend backing them up if you can. Your NNID will still be on the O3DS, you'd just need to sign back in, and any eShop purchases will be ready for redownload. See here for the guide on the DSiWare downgrade: https://3ds.guide/dsiware-downgrade-(app-injection-and-second-3ds)

After doing that, you'll have a CFW 2DS with your NNID associated with it. After that, you can just repeat the process a week later using the 2DS to transfer to the N3DS (if the N3DS is on 10.7 or below, you won't need to do the DSiWare part, but if it is 11.0 or above you will). At the end of it, you'll have 3 CFW systems, with your NNID on the N3DSXL.

Just follow this guide to getting everything set up
https://3ds.guide/
Your pirated games will transfer their data, but not their tickets. So you will need to follow these steps to getting your games properly setup
On your source system:
1: Use Decrypt9 to dump your tickets and also use it to dump your NAND. Back everything up.
2: Use whatever method is available to setup a CFW on your new system
3: Preform system transfer as normal.
4: Restore your Source's NAND back to the Source
5: You games will be missing, but don't worry. Copy the Tickets from your source system to your new system.
6: Using FBI, install the tickets (don't use installing tickets from CDN)
7: 90% of your games will install. It seems legit games from the eShop may not install. So go into the system settings and delete any that are greyed out.
8: Dump the saves from the source so you can restore them on your new system.
9: Redownload any games that didn't transfer and restore their saves.

From there your new system should be the same as your old system
Greater detailed walkthrough from here

I used this guide originally to install CFW on the O3DS, which may actually be irrelevant to my question. What I'm wondering about now is the best way to transfer my stock 2DS to my N3DS XL after installing CFW.
If you are just transferring from stock to CFW, you just need to do a normal system transfer after you install your CFW on your new3DS.

Just to simplify my original question, I want to transfer from a stock 11.2 2DS to a new3DS XL. My source system, the 2DS is completely unaltered.

Got you covered, just do a normal system transfer from your stock to hacked system.

Because you sound pretty knowledgeable on this, I'd like to clarify a bit.

The 2DS is stock and is my main system. The old 3DS has A9LH/CFW on it, but nothing else I care about.

The N3DS XL is 11.0. I want to use 3ds.guide to install the A9LH/CFW on the N3DS XL, but ultimately want the games, saves, and NNID from the stock 2DS on it.

What should I do first?

If you have a way to access homebrew on your 2DS to backup saves and don't otherwise mind formatting it, you can do as my previous post suggests at have 3 hacked consoles with 2 transfers (you'd have to wait a week to do the second transfer).

If you want to keep all your data just as it is from the 2DS (understandable), you should setup an NNID if you haven't already on your O3DS, setup steelhax/DSiWare, and transfer to your N3DSXL to downgrade/A9LH it. Here's where you'd start the process: https://3ds.guide/dsiware-downgrade-(app-injection-and-second-3ds)

After waiting a week, you could then do a normal transfer from your 2DS to your N3DSXL to move all the data over. Make sure to make a solid NAND/SD card backup of your N3DSXL after this, as it has the data you want.

At this point, your N3DSXL is setup. As a bonus, after waiting another week for the transfer cooldown, you could setup a new NNID with steelhax/DSiWare on the O3DS and transfer it to your 2DS since you'd no longer lose data by doing so and install A9LH/CFW on it. No idea if you want to, but that's what I'd do.

The 2DS is currently unaltered and has my years of Pokémon XY and ACNL on it, so I definitely have concerns abou transferring the O3DS to it first.

I'm going to go with your second suggestion, but I still have 2 questions:

Will I have a problem with the dummy NNID becoming stuck on my N3DS XL?

And, reading this almost makes it sound like I should go ahead and update the N3DS XL from 11.0 to 11.2 before I start. Does this sound right?

Thanks.

The only negative of the dummy NNID being stuck on the N3DSXL is that that NNID won't be used by you anymore since you'd use your normal NNID on that console after transferring it to it. Nothing negative, really, just consider that NNID disposable and forget about it after you are done with it.

Yeah, I'd just update the N3DSXL to 11.2 at the start as the system transfer method of DSiWarehax works fine on 11.2.

Thanks, but I guess calling it "stuck" might be misleading. I just want to make sure I could then transfer my true NNID over.

Just to clarify what people are trying to tell you to do. You'll need to:
1. Purchase a DSiWare game on your O3DS. Also Steel Diver if you don't have OoT3D/Pokemon ORAS/Cubic Ninja/Freakyforms (if you do, you'll need an NEW NNID for this, it will be disposable).
2. Follow the guide, do a system transfer and mod your N3DSXL using your O3DS.
3. At this point you'll have modded O3DS and N3DSXL. The 2DS is untouched.
4. Just format the N3DSXL if you have the disposable NNID on it and it'll be ready for another system transfer.
5. Wait a week and transfer your data from the 2DS to the modded N3DSXL. Just follow the instructions and it'll transfer all your data.

Thanks. I basically knew this is the direction they were trying to lead me to, I really just wanted to make sure they knew where I was at leaving the 2DS untouched prior to transfer.

I did have a glitch though, and it was related to having two different systems already.

Since I purchased Four Swords when it was first released, I tried that method. Unfortunately, it didn't transfer. Then I realized I got ahead of myself, and that the copy on the O3DS was a freeshop version.

So, do I have to purchase a DSIWare title with a new NNID on the O3DS and wait another week, or can I fix this somehow?

Yes, you will have to wait another week and purchase a new ds game with a new nnid. Just make sure you unlink your old nnid on the o3ds if you restored a nand backup.

The safe method would be to wait a week, buy a $2 DSiWare game on the CFW 3DS, and transfer again. (You don't need an NNID to buy DSiWare games and with soundhax there's no need to get Steel Diver, so no need to waste time making a new NNID.)

If you don't mind potentially wasting $2 to try a method that I think will work but may not to save a week, try this:

Make sure that you've restored the Source 3DS to how it was before the transfer (NAND backup, etc). Your CFW'd 3DS should share the same folder as the stock 3DS (Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>). Otherwise, this won't work.

On your stock 3DS that you just transferred to, buy one of the following DSiWare games: https://3ds.guide/dsiware-list
On your CFW 3DS, download the same game using freeShop.

Follow "Section III - Injecting the game and save" on your CFW 3DS and make sure it's working: https://3ds.guide/dsiware-downgrade-(app-injection-and-second-3ds)
Now, follow steps 5-8 of this troubleshooting section to move the injected DSiWare game over: https://3ds.guide/troubleshooting#ts_dsiware

I think it should work, but if it doesn't, at least it only cost $2 to try.

Your second method is something I was considering, I'll try it and let you know.
