Okay, so everything I've read says a new 3ds on fw 11 cannot be downgraded without access to one of four dsi games that are no longer available or with a hardmod and there is absolutely no other way to downgrade a n3ds on 11 (even with access to a second 3ds on 4.4 firmware doesn't matter because I never officially downloaded one of those 4 games when they were available?). Is everything I've said correct so far?
My question is then this: can someone please, simply, explain what this page from the tutorial is saying or what it means? https://3ds.guide/dsiware-list
It makes it seem like any game on that list can be used, but that can't be right?
Thanks for the clarification.
I know what I'm asking is stated here over and over again but that one page that I linked is confusing me.

@Jay L That guide is for people with 2 3dses: one hacked and the other isn't. It uses a program that can't be booted without a cfw to inject a dsiware game into a different one.

So I have a old 3ds on 4.4, using the gateway card to run a 9.x emunand. Does this mean I can downgrade using one of those games? Because if that I the case even with the information on that page combined with seemingly contradictory information on other parts of that guide I'm incredibly confused.

I'd swear same guide says explicitly so many times it can't be done without those four games (which are nolonger available) even using the two console method but then that page exists. While I appreciate the existence of the guide I find that it makes the whole process seem way more complicated than it is.

You see the guide just got a major update after finding a major exploit. (Thats why the guide is always up to date)
You can use your old 3ds to downgrade the new 3ds. https://3ds.guide/ follow that guide on the old3ds then follow it on the new3ds.

Ok, maybe I need to wait a few days until the entire guide is updated because even under the two console method it still only mentions those 4 games. I'm afraid I wont properly take the new information from that list and combine it with the old instructions.
Like i said that guid emkaes it seem incredibly complicated; there are a ton of youtube tutorials, which makes everything so much easier when you can see it happening, but nearly
everyone one is in spanish for some reason... given the option at this point i'd be willinng to pay someone experienced to talk me through the steps over the phone, like tech support. Thanks again for the quick answer.

You shouldn't follow youtube guides. They are always outdated. The guide is actually easier and safer then the videos because the guide actually put time and made it properly. The videos are just some random guy copying that guide

Also the guide is updated already it tells you all 3 ways you can downgrade without a hardmod
  • Use this link to downgrade your NFIRM with DSiWare and a second 3DS (which already has CFW)
  • Use this link to downgrade your NFIRM with DSiWare, one of four listed games, and a homebrew launcher entrypoint (11.0.0 and 11.1.0 only)
  • Use this link to downgrade your NFIRM with DSiWare, one of four listed games, and a second 3DS (which already has CFW)

Backing on what xtheman166 said:
  1. That O3DS on 4.4 would probably be better off being upgraded to a fully-fledged A9LH SysNAND — either by just installing A9LH (so, going through https://3ds.guide/ with your old 3DS) and updating the SysNAND, or copying the Gateway-based EmuNAND onto your SysNAND so you can enjoy what's on there (I have personally never done this so I can't verify how this works).
  2. Purchase an injectable DSiWare title from the eShop on that 3DS.
  3. Following the instructions on https://3ds.guide/ for the New 3DS:
    • Your New 3DS is the target system and for the guide's intents and purposes, is the device you want to hack
    • You will be doing an NFIRM downgrade.
    • You'll be doing the downgrade with "DSiWare and a second 3DS". You won't be able to do the other methods unless you own one of the four exploitable games, as they've been pulled from purchase on the eShop.

The guide is up to date. As for paying someone for tech support, well that ain't fun. Hacking your own device after reading is more fun (yes, the risk of bricking is their, but if you read carefully you wont brick).

Thanks for the straight forward answers. After being basically told 'use this method and not these methods' the instructions i've been looking at for a week now suddenly seem very straightforward.
After some thought I'm just going to use someone from this forum to install a hardmod. The old 3ds that I have was like the last gadget my uncle bought right before he died so for sentimental reasons I don't want to take even the slightest chance that I might mess it up.
THANKS!
BTW maybe I'm misunderstanding other peoples posts but I'd swear that in other threads on
this forum there are multiple posts from within the last few days saying that the only way to downgrade is using one of the four unavailable games.

You need one of those four games to downgrade from 11.0 or above with a single console. When using the system transfer method, you can use any game in the list @WBW linked.
