I was using my Wii U just fine and my router restarted itself, so when I try to connect to Splatoon it tells me no (some error ending in 1050 I believe). I try the web browser, it works fine. And now the same thing is happening on my 3DS. Both will pass a connection test, but neither will connect to anything in game or friend related.
I wonder if this is related to a problem I was having with my Xbox One, it just stopped connecting to the Wifi and I had to hardwire it. My PC stopped connecting to the wifi and I had to change out the wireless card for it to work.
any help on this increasingly annoying problem would be much appreciated.

Is it a firewall? Can you confirm if a phone or tablet has connected? Does your internet setup involve a signal repeater? Also check if the router itself is actually connected to the internet.

The router is definitely connected, as I'm connected to it on my PC, my XBO will also connect, but only wired. my 3DS and Wii U will both connect and pass the connection tests but both throw errors when connecting to online play services.

If you can, try and reverse tether your pc. connect it via wired connection, then turn it into a hotspot and see if that works. Also, check if mac filtering is enabled. If it is, turn it off

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also, what error does your 3ds spit out?

I don't have the ability to run a cable to my PC, the router is pretty far away. My 3DS will connect other places, and used to connect here, it just no longer does.

then check for mac filtering on your routers settings
