Hey ,
might be a newb question but how do i update boot.3dsx without bricking the console or loosing hacks

You download the new one and overwrite the old one. Hax is never actually installed, it's just files on the sd card. Menuhax is the only thing somewhat installed, but even that is just an entrypoint. It's also entirely in userland making it impossible to brick.

Not unless you use the user land exploit to gain priviledges for an unstable kernel exploit or mess with the lights.
