Hacking Gateway on ver 11.2.035E?

Fuck. I wish someone had picked up on this immediately. You can't system transfer from a new3DS to an old3DS, you'll need another new3DS.

On the plus side, you don't have to worry about whether or not you can send back the one you purchased, since you won't be using it at all now.


The used to be a "total" transfer limit, this has been lifted. I haven't heard about the "3 times per year" limit @Hyoretsu mentions before, so I can't speak to that.

Recent developments seem to indicate you'll be able to use "almost any" DSi to downgrade. They can't remove "almost every" DSi title can they?

Sorry, admittedly I don't know to much about the transfer method downgrade.

I thought it was transfer primary to a9lh, then a9lh back to primary a week later.

Yea, that would be if you have data on the primary system [here the 9.8 one] you want to go back to using.

I think as long as stock doesn't have an nnid you should be able to nand restore pre-a9lh and system format so that system is essentially back to stock/purchased state.

Just to clarify I'm using New3DS 11.2.035E, Ive purchased and old 3DS as in the original release running VER 9.5 firmware, the plan is to install CFW onto that, then transfer from NEW 3ds to OG 3ds then back again, that will work right?

No. Can't system transfer from n3ds to
o3ds. Your current n3ds system will be lost without a hardmod/another n3ds.

God damnit, the seller probably hasnt sent it yet so i can probably get a refund now, so I need to track down a NEW3ds running an older firmware? Does that even exist? I thought most New3ds came with like 11.0 firmware as default?

No, it won't. If you're up to it, buy a New Nintendo 3DS Super Mario 3D Land Edition with serial YW7010 or YW7011 (Don't know if YW7012 too). They have 10.7. Also, both serials have Dual IPS screens. (YW7012 is lottery, may come Dual IPS, top IPS bottom TN, top TN bottom IPS or Dual TN. YW7013 onwards are dual TN)

If you buy it from official resellers. Bought mine from the Brazilian version of ebay. Compared to what I did with it (entirely modded) and to other prices of the same product (a O3DS non-XL here is R$1300. Bought mine N3DS (YW7011, which means Dual IPS and 10.7) for R$950), might be the best thing I bought in my entire life.

Just tell the seller you didn't realise there was more than one type of 3DS, or "my kid already has one of these, I was meant to get him the newer model" etc...

I'd stick to the original plan of buying a used one and messaging sellers to find out what firmware it's running.

I feel like buying from retail is the best option, as they will pretty much always give you a full refund if you return it in good enough condition...and its probably going to be quite hard to find a second hand one that wasnt using online and updated to current to recent firmware. Also I'm probably going to need to have this done real soon or the DSIware games that still work are going to all be gone from the store... It's possible to remove all trace of the CFW after I'm done with it to return correct? im not sure they would really care anyways they seem to be pretty clueless about stuff like that in shops and just refund you to keep you a happy customer. Is there a way of knowing the firmware VER on these bundles? and ill go look for somewhere local selling one.

Yea you were right in that you somehow (clairvoyently) knew that OP has data [other than saves - that jksm can backup] on the n3ds that they want to keep.

Typical dsiware nfirm downgrade [of n3ds] is install dsiware on o3ds, install hacked save [containing dgtool] - transfer system to n3ds, run dgtool via the dsiware to downgrade nfirm, run hbl and decrypt9 to downgrade system.

@anab0lic the guide has been altered - the dsiware that can be used has been vastly increased as you can now inject a hackable dsiware into another that is big enough, so don't worry too much about that.

From what I saw, buy a New Nintendo 3DS Super Mario 3D Land Edition and you should have 10.7

OP,

I hate it when people tell people what to do, when they have no idea what they are doing.

You needed that 9.8 system to hack your N3DS.

1. Since you're on 11.2, what you need to do is get a (N)2/3DS that's less than 10.7 (or 11.1 or later if you can wait for slowhax).
2. Once you have the system that's 10.7 or less, follow Plailect's Guide to downgrade your system and install a9lh.
3. Once you do that you can buy a dsiWare game on your hacked system to do the dsiWare downgrade on your N3DS.
4. If you don't have anything you can't live without on your N3DS, you don't even really need OoT. Depending on price, Freakyforms Deluxe would be a better buy for entrypoint since it's a Primary and not a Secondary OoT is.
5. If you already have own disWare game you can download with your N3DS, you can call Nintendo and have them transfer the NNID to the 10.7 or less system once you have it all hacked. Then you can use the game you already own and transfer to N3DS.
6. If you want to save things from your N3DS, you'll need something like OoT to run homebrew to backup your saves using JKSM or something else. (I'm not sure if browserhax works on 11.2. Since I have bunch of games for entrypoints, I haven't used that in anything above 9.2.)

You won't be able to do much other than run homebrew on your 11.2 N3DS right now.

You don't specifically need Legend of Zelda OoT (But if you choose it, you'll also need powersaves). You could just buy another game, like Cubic Ninja or Freakyforms Deluxe.

Everytime I open up that guide I get a huge headache, seems like way more steps and potential things that could go wrong here than any other console I've tried to get homebrew working on in the past... rather let someone that knows that they are doing take care of it. Hardmod's only useful to downgrade from 11.x to 10.7. After that, you'll still need to follow the guide.
