So yeah, this got snuck in while everyone was distracted by brexit & for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to making much noise in the news (barely anything on it, on bbc for example).

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/new...ance-law-in-the-history-of-western-democracy/

Passed both houses, just has to be signed in now, and is expected by the end of the year.

TL: DR, ISPs will have to store a connection record for 12 months. No content or specific pages (so bbc.co.uk/sport, will just log bbc.co.uk).

Agencies that can request to have a snoop

Oh and of course, to the suprise of no one, mps are exempt, and wouldn't pass it until they were.

Can't wait until an mp leaves a laptop on a bench with access to the data.

So basically, if value what little privacy you have left in the uk, then best get a decent vpn provider.

Yo, I know the feels - we have something like this in Russia already. But this isn't going anywhere because of the physics of the world (to record everything and store everything you need, well, hardware, right?) so the implementation of this was postponed. And you know, the same can probably occur in your situation as well.

Also for what it's worth, official petition.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/173199

10000 will get a goverment response 100000 will get it considered for debate again.

21500 at the time of writing. Was 4000 earlier tonight when I checked.
Petition most definitely signed.

... just realised that definitely gives the WRONGGGGGG impression. :P

Yeah R.I.P old internet 2016. Is there any other way of masking your activity other than a VPN. I have already subscribed to a premium service but would like additional options too.

Even if it didn't would it really matter? Flash and java from a consumer perspective are on death's door.

That said I still favour bringing the noise. Get enough people with random lookups of all sorts of sites all the time and it becomes a whole lot less useful.

Tor is overrated, it's fairly easy to track someone with it and loads of sites enable cloudflare which means using tor you have to fill in a shitty jewgle captcha that doesnt even work - it just glitches out and says it can't connect!
