Okay, for the last time folks:
First: You should update to 5.5.1 while you still can with internet connection.
Second: The red "X" over your wii u download manager doesn't necessarily means that there's a new firmware update is out. It only means that your wii u tried to check on possible update and it failed to check, because your DNS blocking works.
