as far as i ever knew, a command line isn't a shell, for example windows 3 was a shell to dos

linux because the only processes that are used are the ohes you open. which means less stress and usage of the cpu and other parts on start up.

I switched to Mint a few months ago on my desktop and never switched back. I can run most of my Windows stuff through Wine (especially old games that don't work on Vista or newer) and anything that doesn't run can be opened with alternative programs and most of the time they're just as good (and even sometimes better) as the original software. There's also plenty of free stuff for Linux that doesn't clog your PC with unwanted crap too. Enjoy your bloatware and your iOS-like updates you get with Windows 10 now peasants. B-)
(Hahahahaha I'm better than everyone because I use a different OS)

the thing about Bash for Windows is that it actually runs the binaries which also run on Ubuntu. It isn't a port of Bash other tools(like Cygwin or MinGW contain), instead it's an extension for Windows which allows to run Linux binaries

Well, lets see. I use both windows and linux.
Neither really outperforms the other. It really depends on what you need in terms of programs and software.
Windows allows for itunes, steam, and most AAA software.
Linux has many free open source programs and software.
I start all my projects in linux and always finish them on windows. (As most users are on windows)
Linux is lightweight, fast, opensource, easily moddable, and beautiful.
Windows is user friendly, program base full, customizable, (well windows 10 anyway)
Mostly bug free, (unlike linux which is full of bugs)
Great for grandma and other keyboard peckers, and great looking on touch tablets.
I prefer linux myself but cant go without windows. So its hard to compare them in terms of an OS as for what I use them for I need both.
