I DID call them and asked them... I'll show you my "take this survery" and the e-mail troubleshooting guide they sent as proof if necessary. They were vague about the ban on purpose. They are NOT going to give anyone any kind of reassurance what so ever as to the ban or how long it will last. Anyone who say's otherwise is full of crap. I told them I bought the banned DS from a second hand shop 3 days ago (I DID buy a DS 3 days ago from a second hand shop) they asked me what the error code was, I gave them both, They put me on hold for a good 10 minutes then proceeded to ask me for the serial number of the console, the MAC and proof of printed receipt (not invoice) from the shop I bought it from. I gave them everything and first they told me it was a "hardware failure" and that I should return the DS. When I told them it was bought second hand, with a no returns policy, They escalated my call and I spoke with a manager who asked all the same questions. In the end I was unbanned and was told that "In the future, check the console before buying from a used shop".
I don't think creating some faux invoice from a non-existent shop would work since they asked for a photo of the printed receipt, not a copy. I'm pretty sure they have gotten lots of calls like mine between yesterday and today, just know they won't help you if you don't have empirical evidence you could have potentially been innocent.
