Hacking Secret Sector.bin doesn't exist?

I'm following this guide:

I'm on section 2 where I got the link and it works but when I click select to install it tells me "error Secret_sector.bin doesn't exist or has a wrong size" and all I can do is shut down.

So.

what does that means? and how do I fix?

Do you have a folder named "a9lh" with three files in it (there should be more, but three from the .zip file) at the root of the SD card?
It is literally telling you that it cannot find the "secret_sector.bin" file which should be located inside the "a9lh" folder. All files should have been included in the .zip file (downloaded to confirm).

Do you have the secret_sector.bin file inside it?

Nevermind... I'm stupid. I didn't have the folder in the root somehow.

Except now I'm having an issue a few steps later where it's telling me "SD is not formatted for EmuNAND" when trying to backup. I don't know what to format my SD card to because it never told me anything about that. Plus I don't want to lose all the data I have.

That means you don't have an emuNAND so there's nothing to backup. Don't do the "Move emuNAND" part.

This thread is from eight months ago and consists of outdated information. There's no reason to install A9LH anymore. Follow this guide to install B9S: https://3ds.guide

If your goal is to install CFW, then you just need to follow the guide to install B9S and Luma3DS. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here, but the guide should be all you need.

It was a file needed for arm9loaderhax
But is no longer needed for b9strap I believe.
Not sure but it’s prob so kind of identifiable key file and is needed to run the hack
