You know, I would really like to hear some reasons to keep using RXTools. I made two threads giving reasons and options
https://gbatemp.net/threads/faq-what-cfw-is-best-for-me.428509/
https://gbatemp.net/threads/please-stop-using-rxtools.441784/
And someone even took the time to make a blog
https://gbatemp.net/entry/rxtools-why-should-you-stop-using-it-and-what-can-you-do.11313/
Actually give a reason to keep using it because your current ones aren't even correct.
rxTools is
magnificent Debatable and not a fact.
stable RXMode is ok, but the actual RXTools are extremely unstable and tend to break
has many features Unstable features that Decrypt9 does better.
and has been here for so long. That doesn't make it good, it's also been dead for months.
Keep using it, it's the best. I still use it every day. These aren't facts and you've posted no factual arguments to keep using it.

If homebrewers can install A9LH, what's stopping Nintendo from removing it in a similar fashion?
Because Nintendo would never make a targeted update to remove A9LH. The way A9LH is installed is specific to each system, which is why you can't use the OTP from my system on your system.
Updating it without that code will result in the system being bricked and a targeted update could result in bricking non-hacked systems. This is also why updating without FIRM0/1 protection results in a brick

What is stopping Nintendo from killing rxtools?
Actually what's stopping them is Nintendo being stupid with their updates. It would take 10 seconds to update the Homemenu to only work with newer NATIVE_FIRMs.

Good to know... I honestly wasn't aware of this. But I think RxTools needs to die off already. It will in time, as software leaves it in the dust and more and more features cripple.

It would die if these fanboys would just let it.

OP should read rxTools' source code before posting.

There's a reason why people gave up on maintening it...
Something like this, if I'm not wrong?

Keep using 56k dialup, it's magnificent, stable, has many features and has been here for so long. Keep using it, it's the best. I still use it every day.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
