Yes but will it still read the games from the HHD when I plug it back in afterwards.
You'll have to format the HDD & reinstall everything. But you'll have to choose what nand you'll be using the HDD for... To use the HDD for sysnand, Format THE HARD DRIVE in sysnand. To use the HDD in rednand, Format THE HARD DRIVE in rednand.

Quick questions:

1. I am running on 5.3.2 E (European i guess). Will it work with this or should i upgrade to 5.5.1 E?
2. Can i update the Wii U by simply updating through system settings?
3. Can everything that is described in this thread be performed on a European console? Somewhere someone wrote something about a region change that is necessary.. is that true?
4. If i have no save games to lose and still have to get a USB drive, shouldn't i simply unlink sysNAND and redNAND? I won't have any disadvantages i guess, right? That would be the way to go if you have nothing to lose (aka games installed on USB drive or save games)

If you choose to format sysNAND you will basically lose everything on your USB HDD no matter what. People with hundreds of gigs of games installed shouldn't really be touching this, I can't think of any benefit yet that's worth losing all those games.

You don't need to, I'm having no issues with linked nands and no corrupted titles have appeared.

That's not to say it wont happen though, no one here's had an Emunand for much more than a week at the most.

I'd say better to be safe than sorry at this point, especially as this is released as an experimental WIP.

Are you not suppose to unlink the nands though?

You don't have to.
As stated several times, we don't even know if formatting sysNAND actually does anything. Answers are mixed.
If you don't feel comfortable formatting sysNAND right now, then don't do it.

You aren't really supposed to be doing this at all yet, but yeah I would recommend unlinking personally. Some people don't think it matters but from my 3DS experience it can definitely cause problems at some point.

Thanks guys I think at the moment I will just leave the formatting at least I know now.

Thanks @BIFFTAZ as well :)

Unless you're ok with being a guinea pig just wait and see for a while. There's no point finding out the hard way that the unlinking really did work and was the right thing to do. Better to not use the redNAND at all till it's been proven.

1: Must be 5.5.1
2: Yep
3: Yep it can and no you don't need to change any regions.

EDIT: Y U Remove post bruh!

Sorry, i wanted to add one more questions and didn't want anyone to reply so fast :D You acted within seconds.. wow :D Thanks! Could you respond t my 4th questions as well? :)

If you have no saves or games on USB/HDD to lose then unlinking NANDs wont effect anything other then unlinking any NNID but you can just sign back in.

Here's a question, I have 3 USB method games on sysNAND that I want to save, but I want to unlink NANDs, can I just use built in move to SD card? Installed the games with WUP onto nand, if that helps.

I have a quick question, if there was an update will we have to dump/create rednand again or just update fw.img?

One would assume just the fw.img since its what holds all the patches.

Anything on the NAND itself will be untouched.
