I don't know the exact circumstances, but OTPless bricks are occurring and being reported here.

Each report has been linked to either user error or SD issues, not the actual method itself.

No you do not! You can if you want to but you shouldn't have to

Formatting is just for the initial downgrade to 9.2.

SD errors have been the leading cause of bricks. So backing up and reformatting might not be a bad idea.

Ppl on n3DS are switching to a9hl because of easy to do ( otpless ) but I'm sure for o3DS ppl will keep menuhax or ctr or something other to do not risk another downgrade.

In my case I think I will keep my ctr until the death. But if it is needed I will change my cfw until that I keep my setup ^^

Following Plailect's guide, if you are on 9.2, you do the OTPless install, not the downgrade to 2.1.0.
