New GBAtemp IRC Server - Come and Chat!

irc.jpg

Hey everyone did you know that GBAtemp has a live chat service that you can join with just a click of one button? Just click the chatroom tab at the top of the site and you can join in with the fun from your browser.

For those who are more experienced in the ways of IRC you can join by using the address irc.gbatemp.net and our new server port 6667.

P1ng trying to push that IRC chat again, I honestly don't think it's gonna take off

Takes off? GBAtemp IRC predates the forums and has been around for over 15 years, it is literally the foundation of this entire community. There would be no GBAtemp.net if it wasn't for IRC and it has outlived all of your other little chat fads that have lived and died in its shadow.

So yeah, open up a tab in your browser and take part or don't, its up to you.

I use IRC pretty often so i'd rather not use the browser version and i'm sorry for not knowing about anything about this site before 2005 but then again IRC with the average age of this community is once again something that'll most likely never be used like it was before.

Well whenever i go there, says everyone is idle, look empty like a prison break. Also hope this isnt about gears of war 4 cause i seen him talking about that all week in shout box. :p

Anyway i would try it when there people to talk to, but i never used a irc, it looks like more advance chat room than shoutbox. remind me of aol back in the day

I'm not a fan of IRC because the setup, commands, and whatnot are intimidating. While the web-based IRC clients have made things easier, it still seems daunting. It's an archaic platform for communication. I don't use the shoutbox, but I would sooner go to the shoutbox simply because I don't have to worry about IRC culture and functions.

I'll just remain a forum scrub, I suppose.

But didn't the name come from the website since it used to host gba roms?

EDIT: Also I disagree as the GBATemp Myspace page is totally RAD
