my old 3ds xl i believe is dead. I just bought a new SD card inorder to try to install a9lh and now everytime i put in an SD card it says can't read it. The lock is turned off and its a brand new 64GB sd card. I saw a small piece of hair in the SD card slot but that shouldn't be blocking it from reading sd cards. I really shouldnt have tried switching from gateway to a9lh luma cfw bc now im out all my games and can't even play my 3DS now. Anyone know of a way to fix an SD card reader?

You have to download a program to properly format it. Google search it.
alright got it to work now im on the last part of palicts guide on doing this. i need to restore my gateway emunand, im confused on the part where we restore it.
  1. Copy EmuNAND9.bin from the EmuNAND9 zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card and rename EmuNAND9.bin to y_EmuNAND9.bin
  2. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS
  3. Open Hourglass9 from arm9loaderhax by holding (Start) on boot
  4. Go to "EmuNAND Backup/Restore", then select the "EmuNAND Backup" option to backup your EmuNAND to NAND_emu.bin
  5. Press (B) to get back to the main menu
  6. Go to "SysNAND Backup/Restore", then select the "SysNAND Restore (keep a9lh)" option to restore your SysNAND from NAND_emu.bin
  7. Press (Select) to eject your SD card
  8. Put your SD card in your computer, then copy NAND_emu.bin and NAND_emu.bin.shafrom the /files9/ folder on your SD card to a safe location; make backups in multiple locations; this backup will save you from a brick if anything goes wrong in the future (Your backup should match one of the sizes on this page; if it does not, you should delete it and make a new one!)
  9. Delete NAND_emu.bin from the /files9/ folder on your SD card after copying it
  10. Backup every file on your SD card to a folder on your computer, all files will be deleted in the next step
  11. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS
  12. Press (Start) to reboot while holding (Y) to open EmuNAND9
  13. Go to "SD Format Options", then "Format SD..."
  14. Select the "Format SD (No EmuNAND)" option
  15. Press Select on the main menu to eject your SD card
  16. Put your SD card in your computer, then copy all your files back into it
  17. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS and boot
  18. If you get a black screen, follow this troubleshooting guide

No, you have to download EmuNAND9. emunand.bin from your gateway is most likely a backup of your emuNAND. EmuNAND9 is a program on thw 3DS.

No, do not replace the EmuNAND9.bin file. That is the program itself. Rename your emunand.bin backup to what the guide tells you to rename it to and then follow the guide word for word.

the guide doesnt talk about anything other than emunand9.bin, it never mentions anywhere my emunand to restore....
Oh, FFS. Please just follow the guide. It's really not rocket science. EmuNAND9.bin is the program itself, you place that specific file inside of your luma/payloads folder and name it to whatever the guide tells you to. Then follow the rest of the guide. Hell, use Hourglass9 in place of EmuNAND9.bin if you have to. It's really simple if you just follow the directions the guide gives you. I'm not sure how to keep telling you this... It's not rocket science.
