I asked this in the 3ds noob thread already but didn't get a concrete answer so I'll ask here again.

I decided to change my console's region from JP to EUR using this guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Region-Changing

As it wasn't stated in the guide, I did not think my data would be missing after completing it so I didn't perform any special back-ups other than the one stated in the guide (NAND backup).

After I switched to EUR region, all my previously installed CIAs were gone, but for some reason, they still show under the Software tab in the 3DS menu. They are marked with a blue cross though.

I tried running CacheTool as suggested in the 3ds noob question thread but to no avail.
My micro SD card still has all the files that were there before I performed the region change.

Has anyone got a solution? If not, will installing the NAND back up bring all my files back? If yes, will I be able to back the installed cias up in some way to restore them when I go for the region change for again?

Re-install all the CIAs with FBI or something. I believe it's because they're missing from your titlekey database. When you install them the install will go fast since all it's doing is adding them back to your titlekey db.

Good to know that the installs would go fast but that's sort of my last resort option because I had around 250 installed titles and I'd have to redownload all the cias..

You can also use FreeShop, then you won't actually have to re-download them, because the first thing FreeShop does is install the ticket.
EDIT: Or TikDevil could work too, it literally just installs tickets.

You could try to see if FBI can manage to get the CIAs back in order. Mess around with it a bit.
That's what I'm trying at the moment.. All the titles seem to be there but they seem to be named by codes (for examp. 000400000011400) rather than by their actual title.. I tried importing the seeds and launching them from FBI but no luck..

Thanks! I'll try that immediately, sounds promising.

I downloaded FreeShop through FBI and upon opening it I get the message:

No title keys found.
Make sure you have keys in
sdmc:/3ds/data/freeShop/keys/

What does that mean? What "keys" should i put in that folder? Also, where can I get them?

That titlekeys site.
Found it and put it in the right place. Tried re-downloading a game I already had and it just says "Already installed:...". I checked my home menu after that but nothing new had appeared.
Also, under the tab with the controller, all of my previously installed games are shown.. uhh.

Try installing another game you don't have. Try a small one like a snes or nes games and see if it will show up

Try this. Open up FBI and make sure it's up to date. Then go to titles and try and run the game from there

Yup, it shows all of my previously installed games in free shop but none of them on my home menu.

FBI is up to date and when I try to launch a title from there I get this:

Failed to launch title.
Result code: 0xC8A0CC04
Level: Status (25)
Summary: Invalid state (5)
Module: Applet (51)
Desc: <unknown> (4)

I get the same error with every title, even the new one I just installed which runs normally from my home menu..

That is strange. I just launched a title from FBI to make sure and it worked for me. Hmmm I wonder if a cfw could launch the games or a app to launch the cias. You have that could work. Or if you have another sd card try to make that one back into the region it was and see if they appear that way. You said you made a sysnand back up before you changed regions? If so could try and make a emunand. Like have a normal sysnand and then have the other sysnand switch to whatever region you wanted to change to if you have the space or another extra SD card. All of these are just suggestions. If I had the problem I definitely would try them for you if I could.

Or try this. I was looking around at apps. Try the Luma locale switcher. You can select the game and change the regions from what I see of it
You can download it via FBI app

Until now I had FBI installed as a health and safety inject. After installing a cia of it, I am able to launch newly installed games from it. But if I launch a previously installed title, the screen goes black and it boots back to the home menu.. Also tried to import seeds for a couple of titles but that didn't make a difference..

The content on the SD card is the same for both regions as the change happens in the system itself, so I can't do that. The dual nand option as a last resort does sound ok though.

Using it wouldn't do any difference as the games I had installed were either region free or european..

True but you never know. You can change region, language and use system default in the title action. Maybe switching the games to whatever region may jog something up. Just suggestions
