So guys,

I've been thinking about this, and I might buy a pre-A9LHed 3ds to replace my N3ds XL.(My hands are too small, and it doesn't fit in my old DSi's carrying case) But I really hate the white. Once I get it, will i be able to swap the housing out for a better black one?

To clarify-Can I buy a white N3ds and make it black?

Thanks for any answers!:D

I live in the US. We never got the black version. Which I'm bummed about.
Oh, so you don't want to A9LH the console? Cause that's what I was getting at. Importing a EUR Black N3DS, and just installing A9LH on it and enjoying your games like that.

But anyways, as long as you find the housing in black, and have the patience and skill to do the swap, then I don't see why not. Though I'd probably read up disassembly of an N3DS unit.

So my my plan is to buy a Mario Maker bundle N3DS, with A9LH set up.

Yup, switching the mainboard is totally possible. IIRC, there was a guy who even switched out the top screen of his fire emblem to get dual IPS on Reddit. That was even more work and care for the ribbon cables.

I'm assuming that bundle isn't out yet, since the game isn't out yet. Any new limited edition consoles are going to come on firmware 11.0 or 11.1 I'm sure, and you can't downgrade those firmware versions without a hardmod or another hacked 3ds using the DSiWare exploit (assuming Nintendo doesn't patch it before you get your bundle).

All of you. Thank you, but I'm assuming I wasn't clear enough. (My bad)

I'm thinling of buying the already released N3DS: Mario Maker Cover Bundle (Does not come with the actual game) on ebay, but there are sellers advertising A9LH pre-installed. Such as this one: https://goo.gl/2MrRbT And my question was, "The Bundle comes in white, would I be able to swap for a Black housing shell by myself? If so, how?" The reasons for this were as follows:
-The N3DS Non-XL only released in bundles in the US. All of whick were white, No BlackN3DS Non-XL was ever released in the U (US) region
-I think the Black would look better
-The Non-XL fits better in my hands
-I don't want to risk a brick on another 3ds that I just bought (Yes, I have installed A9LH on my other 3DS, but why take the risk when you dont need to?)
-That Mario Maker faceplate contrasting with the Black system would make the 3DS look soooooooooooooooooooooooo sweet.

Thank you for any responses!

Yes, it can be done. I knew someone who did it with the Animal Crossing one back when it came out. They imported a Japanese black n3ds and swapped the insides.

EDIT: If possible, try to get just a black shell to replace it instead of swapping out an entire 3ds. Way cheaper. Here's a black shell I found pretty quick on google: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...crews-Part-Used-2015-Version/32649279944.html

So, got any tutorials or documentation? Anything would be great.
