Can you always be sure a certain vendor always supplies a certain LCD type?
And curiously, do you know which vendors manufacture TN or IPS?
My wild guess: SHARP=TN, SAMSUNG=IPS.

Yes, I can.

The two vendors the 3DS knows about are JDI (1), and SHARP (0xC).

SHARP=TN
JDI=IPS

Given IPS is JDI's thing, and SHARP only produces TN...

iirc everything except SHARP is an IPS screen, but those are so rare, that I doubt anyone'll get "unknown screen type"

I went with Ctraging's switch(), which says 1 is IPS, 0xC is TN, and everything else is "Unknown" -- you could be right, though! I don't know enough to say for sure.

It seems to be counting system titles in the title count so if you use it try and stay under the 300 title limit you have to do some extra math.

Minor, but worth releasing an update. So I was reading about the mcu::HWC service and got interested in reversing the function. I thought there might be more info on github, and so after searching I found that Spaqin had already implemented it into his program. It seems he got the reversed function from @MarcusD, so all credits goes towards these guys.

Version: 0.5

Changelog:
  • Displays actual battery percentage using mcu::HWC service (Thanks MarcusD)

Just pointing out that you named the tag 0.5 as "3DSident v0.4" when it should be "3DSident v0.5".

I swear I always make these mistakes. Well as usual, I only get free after like 11 or 12 (due to college), so I'm bound to be somewhat sleepy at this point and end up making mistakes haha.

can the battery display be made to update like once every 60 seconds or so? or by pressing A?
and if battery status can be accessed, i wonder if wifi status can be too?

Also I'm thinking of making a GUI version as well. (Not something highly graphical, but something neat and user friendly which goes along well with the banner)

This is what I've done so far:

I thought the original purpose was to keep the legacy of pspident going :D
This is cool and all, but I'm such a nostalgic person that I'd probably keep using the original version lol

I never said I'd abandon the original haha. Both will be updated accordingly. This is just an alternative for those who prefer more user friendly UI's and such.

Lol I never insinuated that. I just meant that this is diverging away from the original concept lol.

Either way. I love the look and feel of the original. Always have and always will :p

Alright, 0.6 is up. Just a little heads up, the battery voltage and volume slider state returns weird values (actual values) which are of an unknown unit/format. So I decided to display estimated values. Volume slider percentage is definitely accurate, however the voltage is estimated (but should be very close to accurate according to my calculations).

For those wondering: The volume slider state can be used to detect if your slider is faulty or is in a non working condition.

Version: 0.6

Changelog:
  • Displays battery voltage (Estimated and actual value)
  • Displays volume slider state (actual value and percentage)

I know it's optional, but I prefer the original... it's simple and quick and you could be in and out in a second. As well as provide many details if you're sending a screenshot for someone for troubleshooting.

Actually, the slider value is the most accurate you can get :P It returns the raw, uncallibrated slider value as its resistanse shows. The slider is callibrated by CTRAging on factory setup, and the software calculates the real value for you from the given min/max values (10 and 114 for my new3DS). Sadly I don't know where these values are stored :/
