EDIT: As of the end of November, this method no longer works as PSN spoofing was broken by Sony. The only way to activate now is via this process using a PS3: https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-t...-check-here-first.403035/#Lower_FW_Activation

A PS3 is 100% required as of now.

The act.dat is an activation file for a Sony Playstation console, based on an account email and password, the devices IDPS, the platform and activation type.

Sending your PSN login details to a site that just popped up, in plaintext, seems like a poor way to handle this...

But then again, there's no other way for you to do this without releasing the PHP script and the "source". Is it much different from the script on the Vita dev wiki?

Well, it seems like an exciting step forward anyways. Untethering Vita users from the PS3 is obviously useful.

yeah no problem to refuse to buy a ps3, no one is expecting you ha
but if you have one, use it :)

yifanlu said we could maybe expect psn access via henkaku/hacks, so we will see what the future will bring :)

Wait for a firmware spoofer. If it doesn't appear possible, buy a cheap PSTV and update it to 3.61 then use the IDU mode and a memory card unslaver to circumvent memory card usage restrictions.

Hmm ok so that is possible.. a thing i dont understand is you have PSTV for ps4 and for vita? or all they all the same?
And you can't control it with a vita? but only a seperate dualshock controller?

A PSTV is a model of the PS Vita .
Instead of having a built in screen and controller, you plug it into your TV and use a PS3 or PS4 controller.
Some games are blocked from working on the PSTV, but they download fine and you can force them to work using homebrew.
It's also pretty cheap. You could probably find one secondhand for about €30.

There's no region restrictions. I'm not sure if there are any other options when it comes to controls. I believe some bundles come with a controller.

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image

but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
