Resident Evil 7 Gamescom trailer

RE7_PS4_EXP_IN_1465868578.jpg

As part of this week’s GamesCom activity over in Cologne, Germany, Capcom are pleased to release a brand new gameplay trailer and screenshots for Resident Evil 7 biohazard. Taking a deeper look at the horror players will see in the release of the title early next year, players are introduced to Marguerite Baker and another mysterious female character in this latest gameplay sequence taken from the main game*. Resident Evil 7 biohazard will be available for PlayStation 4 (the full gameplay experience will also be available via the included PlayStation VR mode), Xbox One and PC when it launches across Europe and North America on January 24, 2017.

Set within the sinister plantation house in Dulvey, Louisiana, the Baker family, including Jack and Marguerite, were residents but no-one has seen or heard from them in a while. Where could they be? One thing is clear in the latest content to be shown from the game – there’s something not quite right within the plantation. Who is the mysterious girl in the gameplay? What does Marguerite want with her?

Players experience the terror directly from the first person perspective for the first time in the Resident Evil series. Embodying the iconic gameplay elements of exploration and tense atmosphere that first coined “survival horror” some twenty years ago, Resident Evil 7 biohazard delivers a disturbingly realistic experience that will define the next era in horror entertainment. Returning to the series roots, signature gameplay features including exploration, puzzles and a realistic tense atmosphere awaits players. The classic inventory system returns but with limited space meaning players must choose what they carry with them carefully, making sure they remember to pack their green herbs!

Pretty sure its survival horror roots rather it turned into a tps action game for the last 3 games
It will also be pushing the genre in vr to the more mainstream market

Guys I have Revelations 2 installed on my PC should I play it? (No good connection for online)
I didn't like the game for it's pc controls. Maybe I played too much RE4, but I can't get used to the weird key setup. I know I can remap the keys in any way I want, but it just doesn't feel right no matter how I do it.

So according to some people's definitions, RE can not evolve and change gameplay aspects, otherwise it won't be RE anymore. :rofl2:
It can change gameplay mechanics - they released several FPS RE games before. That said, it can't completely change the subject matter without losing identity. The game's original title is Biohazard for a reason - what's the biological weapon here? It's just a game about a weird family - that's not RE. It's like filming a Star Wars movie, except it's set in medieval Europe and nobody ever fights any wars in space. It still has "knights" in it, but it wouldn't be Star Wars, would it?

Dutch angle that I did not reflexively shy away from and some nice lighting, even if it did not seem remotely realistic. Saw the jump scare coming before I even hit play but you have to try these things I suppose.

Some say outlast, I got more of an alien isolation, or possibly penumbra, vibe. Granted I would hope they were going for a RE3 type effect if they are going for roots.

If the game looks like that it will be a nice looking world as well. That said it always looks nice in trailers and often ends up a bit stage dressed in the end game, maybe this is what "next gen" gets to remedy. Granted I imagine I will still wonder why someone can't jump a 2m gap.

Also did anybody see the leaked early footage of RE4, or even play the DLC of things related to it?

That said I really liked 4 and 5, still have not put enough time into 6 to say I have yet but every time I try I put in RE5 instead. Equally I have not really properly played isolation and horror game wise have not done much... well there is a reason my reference was penumbra.

What the hell?! This is not freakin' Resident Evil.
I want my RE game in 3rd person.
Are you trying to be Amnesia?
I can't even see any form of Resident Evil content.

My fave RE games are 2 and 4. hehe

Take resident evil 4 at base, you are sure to make a great resident evil.
Careful with what you say, you might actually get it in the form of RE5 or RE6. :P

More on topic, I am in NO way happy about this nor the past demo.
Not at all.

I have played all of the early spin off titles of RE, including both Survivors, Gaiden and Dead Aim, and have completed them, they still had that RE vibe to it.
This, however, does not.

If they want to experiment with this kind of VR shit, do it with another new IP or make it a spin off of RE, do NOT make it a main series numbered entry for fuck's sake. More so if you are going to go the PT route with it, which in no way depicts what the final game will be like nor any actual gameplay.
God forbid THIS SHIT is the actual gameplay because I will in no way backup this, on the contrary, I will try to stay as far away from it as possible.

If they end up doing this to the final game, they are making a poor decision, not all the gamers can afford a VR set to get the experience they are intending for us to get out of this. And sa a standalone console game it will be pretty lackluster.

Do we still care about numbers for game franchises? Game devs have been colouring outside the proverbial lines for years and years now, and that is before we consider Final Fantasy and GTA. I don't know if the concept was killed as stone dead as Google killed the term beta but it is not far off.

As for the RE vibe then if the game is all like that it will not be good, however there have been a few sequences where you are somewhat helpless. The way it was cut gave it something of an air of dream sequence/losing their mind to me (the fades to black and audio cues during it if I think on it) which I am not sure was intentional. If I am really bored I might grab it and recut it with other transitions. Equally I got quite a bit of RE4 (the village at least) and earlier sequences (not that I did not like the rest of the game but the early stuff saw a massive tonal shift compared to later in the game) in RE5 from that.
I would agree that the first were more grounded bad 80s Japanese bio horror, almost home invasion/woke up and the world was over/haunted house type setups, where the later games seemed to be someone saw Versus and decided to make a game, however where something like that happened before and we got Devil May Cry this was them still using the name and some characters and concepts.

Someone in there still knows how the old stuff works though. It is not amazing but the RE anime set in an airport got close.
